Does anyone know if the new forum posts will be merged into here at some point? I had a few important questions that may have been wiped out by them reverting.

Only downside, was my browsing of the forum took a sharp dive after upgrade-gate... now its back to the old format and I feel myself being pulled right back in.

Not as far as I know, so please redo your conversations.

Yeah it's just so easy to communicate in. This multi quote edit was so easy to add.

I like that I can tell which threads have new replies. That's like the big thing that really pushed me away (after the colours/layout/loss of features/eye strain/etc)... heh

As long as they don't fire the little guy that actually did the work. It's the management that allowed it that need to get strung up or at the very lease get an few hours in the stocks.

I don't have any issues with upgrading to a new system, as long as its a practical improvement in functionality, quality of life and ease of use.

If it's everything this forum was but better, sure. Why not? But I have a feeling it's going to suck. Hope I'm wrong.
I think these forums are perfect just the way they are too. But that's the nature of Unity, they constantly evolve.

It's not evolution if it's a step backwards, which any instance of Lithium would be. I've never seen a good Lithium forum, and it seems like most Xenforo forums are great.

Evolution is a response to adversity, changing for the sake of change is frivilous.

I just had to sign up for a Skype account. The instant I had linked my MS account it started e-mailing me community tasks and crap. Of course it runs on Lithium. If you want to see a horrific future out of Black Mirror, use the Skype community.

Well, I'll be patiently awaiting the next big messup.

Speaking of which "old" does not mean "broken" in software world. It is never a "time to upgrade" unless there's a problem that needs solving.

It won't suck if they actually take the time to set things up and test them properly. Last weeks disaster should never have happened. What was launched was an inferior product in all practical comparisons.

Once there are good, solid, well used and appreciated features and ease of use (like the ones on this forum) then you cannot give a substandard offering after that. It has to be equal or better in all forms or it is not an acceptable replacement. Only if there is some catastrophically important problem about to break everything is it okay to regress in quality for a better back-end.

I'm pretty confident that they can deliver a better solution that matches what we have on this XenForo forum, but that all depends on how bad they want to shovel it out and what they're willing to sacrifice for their impatience.

To be honest the broken forum made me so depressed that I got even less done. I haven't opened Unity once in that time.

Haha. I listened to the whole thing. They should have gone with blackmetal though ^^.

The one thing I will miss from the new forum software was that it actually consistently delivered email updates about thread posts. That having been said, it was a HUGE relief to see the old forums back this morning! XD

Yeah, I think one user even got 1060 emails at once because the forum deceided it needs to inform him about every single post in the feedback threads individually.

Yeah actually my mail provider decided to flag the unity email domain as spam... Pretty common with mailing lists and forums that send out too much stuff too often.

Thread posts but ZERO updates from watched sub-forums. I spent about 3 hours trying to subscribe "watch" a sub-forum/thread - e.g. Animation - and was never able to before my eyes couldn't take it anymore. Terrible decision to update, and AWESOME decision to revert. Thanks Unity.
I never heard of Lithium before the update - and hope to never hear of it again.

Edit: Watch = Alert without an email notification.

Okay! Why not wait a little more and upgrade to XenForo 2.0 later on?

I responded to that one as well

Something being installed some time back doesn't make it 'old' or useless. Xenforo has been updated a great many times and keeps up with most of the latest standards. In fact, it is actually decently ADA compliant (I have to deal with that for work, so I notice little bits of it here and there). That Lithium disaster wasn't even slightly compliant.

Every time I click one of the "Forum" buttons at the top of the page I get redirected to the broken forum.
That seemed to work ok yesterday.
