For which purposes may I use Music/SFX bought from the Asset Store for? What's their kind of license

    HI,

Today I was speaking with a composer who had the same asset for sale in both the UAS and on his website.

Yet the license in his website said:

    - You are granted non-exclusive,
royalty free, rights to the use of
the audio file(s) in as many games
    and applications as you wish
    ("Product")
    - You are granted the use
of the audio file(s) for promotional
purposes of the Product (e.g. video
    trailers)

and nothing else. I sent the composer another email saying that the license in the UAS could be different and had no reply. I also made the following questions (sort of)

May I use a sound assets from the UAS for non-gaming non-unity purposes as well, like in a youtube live video streaming session as a background music, as an intro for selling a light bulb, as the intro of my YouTube Channel? As the background music for a gameplay video of a videogame done by others or for just talking about the weather? To use it as a background music during a conference about airplanes? To use it in a non-Unity game?

Do I need a special agreement with the composer?

(What about other assets, like 3D models or textures?)

I never used it for anything else, but this led me to be uncertain about it.

I'm assuming everything should be licensed as commercial/non exclusive, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

If you bought it from the UAS you don't need a special agreement with the composer. Everything sold there falls under the UAS Eula [1] (see 1.1.1).

    & [2] (see 2.)

So using it for anything else than in a Unity project is not allowed. But only if the composer sells the same stuff somewhere else under different less restrictive license that might complicate things.

" electronic games and interactive media and distribute such electronic game and interactive media"
Thanks for bringing up the correct parts of the EULA :)

I believe this does not limit the use of the assets to Unity only tho.

Hmm, right, maybe not Unity. Really depends how you interpret/define "interactive media".
