Fog in certain range only?

    I want to hide my world borders and its build up behind fog. I did that before with an asset, but as custom pass doesn't seem to work with hdrp at the moment, the asset is broken for me.

    I played around with the hdrp global/local fog and density volumes. I was able to hide it but then my whole world is very foggy, which would only be fine for certain (rain, storm, winter) settings.

    Is there a way to limit the fog to a certain range in the distance? E.g. first 2000 units no fog, then it starts to fade in from 0% to 100% denstiy at e.g. 5000 units distance.

    I tried that with denstiy volumes but it won't really behave as one would expect (me at least).
