    Hey there,

i was jsut reading through the new Unity 2017.1 feature list as i saw the following feature and animation of a fluid:

"Graphics: Added Custom Render Texture asset. A Custom Render Texture is a new type of Render Texture that can be easily updated with a shader. It provides a user interface and a scripting framework."

    fluidShader.gif

I would like to know more about this kind of shader. Does anyone know what this might be called and for what keywords i can search?
As it is seen under that particular feature i guess its something which can be computed easier in terms of performance? I couldnt find any example code for that so im asking here :)

Is there an upside to using this sort of asset+shader instead of regular RenderTexture assets and a CommandBuffer stored on a camera?
