Oh, I wouldn't doubt he got threats from a very few that wished they could replicate his success via his game's support channels. He should turn such threats over to the proper police authorities.

In fact it's about time Apple, Google, Microsoft and others start taking note of origins of 'reviews' and 'support requests' to protect isn't customers and it's sellers from criminal activities and make it easy for people such as that man to file protection complaints.

and about flappy bird... i think its so popular because
1. "bird".. angry birds...
2. mario pipes
3. its so quick you try again and again cause its so quick

 

Sure 99.9% of the time death threats are only jokes/venting, but you only need 1 person to be serious about it for something terrible to occur and there's no way to know who is being serious and who isn't.

 

What I find strange is that the game seemed to have gone for months without any updates and then the day after it gets updated with some modified graphics, the developer announces he is pulling it down.

At any rate, it is amazing that such a simple game got that much attention and revenues. Glad this kind of success is still possible at this stage for indie developers.

 

Dumb, question but was Flappy Birds made with Unity? I am just curious...

 

Nope. Binary size (2.4 MB) is too small for Unity game.

Someone needs to make a Flappy Bird game starter kit on the Asset Store.

With all these clones reaching the top charts in appstore and what even worst they are keep comig and Apple keep approving them so i must say it once for all : R.I.P Apple!

 

What does this have to do with Apple?

 

Apple decide if an app can be approved.
try to do an angry duck game, or putting angry bird in your keyword, and you will see...
And you can't do a fart app or a lighting app anymore (unless it's very high quality)

Currently making a game for it since it exists Won't be bird or flapping related but it will be a one-button game.

To be honest I don't understand it. I mean, I'm all for showing support, but considering the stated reasons for his taking the game down, making more of them isn't actually support at all. (As one of the reasons was that he was uncomfortable that people were spending too much time playing the game. Now there are even more of them, and the distinct possibility that something just as addictive and time-wastey will result.)
