[Fixed] Vuforia 7.2.20 unstable initialization in 2018.1.7 Editor

    Hi, ever since I updated my project from Vuforia 7.1.35 to 7.2.20 in Unity 2018.1.7 that the initialisation fails every time I play different scenes in the Editor. This forces me to close and re-open Unity, which greatly affects my workflow.

    I was able to replicate this in a new empty project in Unity 2018.1.7 with Vuforia 7.2.20 in Android platform. Steps to replicate this issue:
    1. Create new project and switch to Android.
    2. Turn on Vuforia AR in Player Settings under XR Settings.
    3. Create a scene and add Vuforia AR Camera (and import Vuforia).
    4. Create another scene without Vuforia AR Camera.
    5. Play scene with Vuforia AR Camera.
    6. Stop playing.
    7. Change to and play the scene without Vuforia AR Camera.
    8. Stop playing.
    9. Come back and play scene with Vuforia AR Camera.
    10. See that Vuforia Initialization triggers an error with the code "INIT_ERROR".

    My environment specifications are:
    - Windows 10 Pro
    - Intel Core i5-4460
    - 8GB RAM
    - AMD Radeon R9 200 Series
    - Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920

    Is someone else also experience this issue? Can the Vuforia support team look into this?

    I've been able to reproduce this. I'll open a ticket with the team for further investigation.

    Hi @Vuforia-Strasza , thanks for picking it up quickly.

    Do you know if such a fix would be delivered as (quick) patch or will it only be rolled out in the next Vuforia version? We are currently developing a new project that has a short client deadline and waiting for a new Vuforia version release may be too long for us.

    It all depends on the nature and overall priority of the fix compared to whatever else is in the queue for a patch. At the current time I don't have enough information on it to say one way or the other, but as the issue develops I'll be sure to post here with an estimate as to when it will be fixed.

    Hi @Vuforia-Strasza sorry being pushy but this issue is quite a hassle for the development process of the team. Having to restart the Unity Editor because I have to play a different Scene from the one with AR is a big problem.

    A new Vuforia version was released but no mention to this bug. Do you have a new status update on this?

    Hello @henriqueranj ,

    We apologize for the inconvenience. I just reviewed the bug and it shows as resolved and is scheduled to be included in our next SDK release. We are still working towards RC at this time so I do not have an exact date when it will be available.

    I've added a comment to the ticket to update this thread once released.
