Resolved [FIXED] Unity 2021.2.0b2 WebGL build process stuck after 3 hours

    Hello, I recently installed Unity 2021.2.0b2 and the WebGL Build process always get stuck in a specific step. My latest attempt lasted 3 hours until I decided to abort.

    Even with an newly created and empty 2D project, the build gets stuck during a step for more than 3 hours (screenshot in attachment shows the step from which it did not progress after 3 hours).

    No errors are seen in the Editor.log. Just the build steps and my cancellation attempt, which also gets stuck and I have to force-quit Unity via the Task Manager.

    I am running Unity 2021.2.0b2 (Pro license) in Windows 10.

    Replication steps:
    1. Create new project with 2021.2.0b2
    2. Select 2D project template (haven't tried with other templates)
    3. Change to WebGL Platform
    4. Open build menu
    5. Start build
    6. Build does not move forward from "Incremental Player Build" step to generate a wasm artifact.
    7. (Different build/player settings combinations have been tried with no success, such as, Brotli or disabled compression; different types of build settings - for speed or size).

    An update: probably caused by AVG Business.

    After installing Unity 2021.2.0b3 (Beta 3), the antivirus malware scan pop-up appeared when trying to build for WebGL. After a few scans the build finished successfully. I suspect that a recent AVG update "fixed" this behavior.

    P.s.: The WebGL builds with Beta 2 still get stuck.

    Also having this issue, but I don't use AVG.
    It looks like clang++ is just eventually hanging.

    @Dan_Kodable are you using Unity 2021.2 Beta 2 or 3?

    My WebGL builds with Beta 2 are still hanging. I've been able to build with Beta 3 after AVG did its malware checks.
