First Person Soccer Game

Oh you have no idea of the pain it causes me to write 'soccer' instead of 'football', but just for clarity's sake let's go by that.

Anyway...

Hi guys! I know I'm a bit late for that World Cup fever (already one semi-final played) but here's an idea that occurred to me long before I had even heard of Unity, and now finally the time has come for it to be realized!

A first person soccer game where you control an individual player! Right now I've only got a basic goal, keeper, and wall working, but let me know what you guys think!

Controls are WASD to move around, left click to shoot, and hold 'q' or 'e' while taking a shot to watch the ball curve in the respective direction!

Currently, all that happens when you shoot is that the ball instantiates at your feet and flies in the camera direction, but I'll introduce a proper mechanic when I've thought it out a bit more. In fact, if you guys come up with something that would feel right for you, I'm all ears!

Obviously, it's a work in progress, and the quality's a bit suckish because it's only Unity Free, but I've got high hopes for this (and I hope you do to)!

What are your specs?

Could be because the game uses a really small physics timestep...

 

Hey, I just discovered this by doing research about fp-soccer games
Are you planning to do more, or to produce a game?
I know that it would be hardly doable to build sth like Fifa in first-person-mode, but maybe a kickstarter-project would work.

This is a good idea, being a football fan myself this gets me excited. I played the webplayer version and as mathias234 also stated the game lags on my computer as well. I dont think this is due to my specs eventhough im playing on a core i3 laptop with a intel hd3000 gpu , the game lagged when i was looking straight at the goalpost and the wall, but when i turned around and the goalpost/wall was out of my view the game ran quite smooth. Please look into this issue and keep up the great work, this is a good idea

 

Never heard of a first person soccer game, and by the looks of it, it seems to be going well. Is the goal using an interactive cloth? That would be interesting. Good job!
