First hand experience of IP owner noting your use of their IP on game

I see often people ask about use of IPs in games, usually it's about firearms or cars. We just had a first hand experience of this, Trijicon manufacturer of premium optics for firearms mentioned us on their Facebook page, some screenshots from the game and a quiz to name the products used in screenshot.

Offcourse this does not prove its safe to use patented/trademarked products in your game but it's shows some manufactured do have pretty relaxed views on the use of their IP in games.

 

How did they find out you have models of their products in your game?

 

The screenshots they used are from rifle movie database so probably found them there
