    Nice car. But, I wanna use my own model. I need to get acquainted with 3ds max. :) Anyways, what do the headlights on the Del Sol look like? I cannot find good refs anywhere. :(

    Thanks. :) But, I found some refs on Ebay. :)

    Oh, and guys. I fixed the Inputs. I changed the orbit cam script. So, the car tail-lights work great, and the Orbit cam works. To play it, click here. Btw, if anyone doesnt know, fullscreen for better FPS. :D

    Yes. I realized that while playing with a friend in school. :p I'll fix it now. :) What do you think of the game now? Better cameras? :D

    camera is better, but the car mesh still needs headlights. And to drive in a straight line.

    Another update. Headlights are done. More side details. Now, for the windows. :)

    Progress on the car has halted. Now, I've designed a city. And, I'm modeling it in 3ds max. Don't worry about the buildings, etc that are not on the ground. lol. I've just haven't moved them yet. ;)

    Nothing happens in Chrome. I load the game then I just see the title screen with the beetle.
    I can't do anything after that.

    lol, ill add it. A huge list of updates. Thanks guys! :)

    - new tail lights and headlights(glows mostly)
    - raised FPS a lot. Up to 42 now(on my system)
    - added buildings/ramps/props that cl69 mentioned me to add, modeled by Aaron and I
    - fences added
    - trafficlights changed from the lights to halo objects
    - changed mp4 design to almost be my own car, lol
    - selection screen updated with car reflections
    - car shadows added, and some 'fake' shadows on props
    - improved car reflections

    Very nice game. but when you fall into the water the shadow seamms a bit to flat and dark, also you don't stop falling.

    Good Job so far :)

    Updates. :) Tho, you people must not be that interested in this game? :confused:

    - More roads completed
    - a lot of buildings added
    - roads contain bump maps
    - new road texture
    - new grass with bump maps
    - new selection menu made
    - MP4 has headlights now. ;)
    - more props made. A dumpster, and trash can
    - you can now reset your car if it is flipped(pressing R will reset it 180 degrees over)
    - the handbrake works correctly now on the MP4

    To be honest, I don't think my graphics are up to par. :/ does anyone have any tips I can use for the graphics? I mean, I just saw this. And I was like, 'uhh'. That game only has realtime shadows that I do not have. And I still cannot get my graphics to be that amazing.

    First of all, congratulations for the game :)Nice project..

    Graphically, we have used them ;

    Color correction
    Sun shaft
    bloom and flares
    Glow effect


    And Building ...

    Diffuse detail and reflection>Bumped spec

    Very nice! How did you do the glow effect on the letters in the main/options menu? Also, are the menus in separate scenes?

    You asked about "lens flare" disappearance in Unity support Forum

    So i had to track down you're project

    So anyway my guess that you're unintentional free roaming camera is the problem most likely a simple issue to solve.

    Let me critique a little on this since Ive played a few NFS myself when the car turns the corner it should always be locked-on in one direction and not slide off too the right / left unless the user was using as an example Orbit - Cam but its crucial there is no sloppiness, users should not need to fight too maintain control of the camera.

    How one would approach this is by parenting say a camera to the car that is fixed in place and swapping cams as you see fit, "Ive seen a few swap cam scripts kicking around the forums".

    You have various cameras #1 for minimap, #2, for rearview #3 for frontview

    anyway keep at it

    The glow effect is a shadow made white in pdn. Yes, they are in different scenes. ;)

    thankyou. guys, what's your average FPS? A friend keeps telling me to make it higher, b/c he says it sometimes dips to 20 FPS. He is getting annoying. And, any tips on code optimization? I've done everything I could. :/

    Well i dunno, fraps is unreliable for me sometimes, but i get between 40 and 60 fps, that's on my system:

    2.7Ghz Intel Pentium DC
    4GB ram
    AIT HD 5770 1GB
    And a 50mbps internet connection ;).

    Good. Thanks for telling me.;) The other tester keeps saying that this is a bad FPS for a game like this. I think it's fine. How do I make the shadow not...flip when rolling and make it fade when going away from the ground? Also, how does the car body roll work? someone told me that it was CoM related. but, i can't seem to get it right. :confused:

    Cool, well the FPS is fine for me.
    The blob shadow.. there's a script on the wiki called something like 'BolbShadowAlwaysPointDown' or something, I'll try find it.
    As for the CoG, or CoM, I'd look at how the Unity car tutorial does it- because i'm not sure myself.

    Thankyou guys! I have found a Blobshadow always faces down script. I still do not know about the car body roll. :confused: Any ideas?

    Thanks for your interest. It makes me want to do more with this game. :)

    Some small updates for you guys. An analog speedometer is now implemented. And, a river is being made. :) Further code optimizations have been made, also. ;)



    More to come.

    Update. Ai script in the process. 2 traffic cars at the moment. The script is from GoTow(Andrew's Ai car script). But, it is being edited by me for my own purposes. :)

    Hi there m8, game looks interesting. I tried the webplayer but all i got was empty overlaping boxes, in windowed and fullscreen mode.
    My desktop res is 1920x1080.
    Keep up the work, i like the style of game your making.

    Thanks. About the game, it just needs to load. Just reload the WebPlayer a few times, and it should be grand. :)

    Ok i was a bit more patient this time and it loaded fine.
    first thing i noticed was your camera is locked on 1 axis, it needs to follow the car. There is a (CarCamera.cs) script which does this.
    Have you considered using the Alternate Physics Tutorial for your car physics, it looks like you need some (antiroll) on your cars.
    Also some lightmapping wouldn't hurt and it's real easy. If you got any questions just ask.

    Your game is definitley starting to take shape! However you need some lightmapping to help with the look of your game. I realize that your game is nowhere near completed, but if you were to have some form of lighting for screenshots and web builds I think you'll gather a lot more attention as right now it looks flat and washed out. Keep up the work!

    Here's a quick test i done on a plane to show how easy it is. You just need to set any object as (Static) and it needs a collider. Your light will need to have shadows turned on also and then hit lightmap and bake.

    I get a weird error, well, many errors while trying to lightmap.



    Any ideas onto why?

    when you import a model there's a generate lightmap uv option, check that.

    Select the 2 checked boxes under the fbx exporter. What version of unity you using also?

    I have edited and fixed the traffic car a bit, and added side mirrors. ;)
