Well, too late. Couldn't find how to redeem the code. You've got some nice assets that would've been great to prototype with. I'll probably pick one or two up later.

Too slow this time. Out of curiosity how is this working out as a marketing strategy for you? Have it had a marked effect on views or sales?

I'm now thinking about picking up some of your assets to combine with a frame work like UnitZ, just for kicks.

Its on your user account page.

If I have something else you would like to check out let me know, I may have some vouchers left for them.

Hmm, Well I don't intentionally try to gain sales from it. It's a nice way for me to generate good will and an awareness for my stuff. But, I can say that from my experiences, it does not really have any effect on sales. I did a massive giveaway a few weeks ago on another sub-forum here and ended up giving out like 40 vouchers. Some people were kind enough to review the assets after they used them, but I don't give them away with any expectation of getting something back.

If there are any particular ones you would like to check out, let me know I may have some vouchers left on them.

Just chiming in. I was lucky to get this one and for those who are curious: it was Nightmare Fuel :)
    Lovely looking pack, John!

I was mainly looking at the make history series. I was thinking on some sort of Indiana Jones meets Doctor Who. Basically jumping through time completing various puzzle / action sequences in various settings. Its a pretty crazy idea, but it seems to be sticking around in my head. So I might give it a go soon.

    I second that.

I understand that Giger is dead, but C'mon.

    Here are proof links:

Also, I have impression that depth wasn't properly reconstructed and textures were created via somthing like Bitmap2Material.

If you want better effect, you'd need to sculpt that thing, then bake into normal map. It is major pain, but results will be better.

I bet it would be a great game. There are a good collection of Make History kits.

The "wall with baby heads" for example, is pretty much verbatim copy of original.

Let's just say I wouldn't do something like that.

As someone who makes his living mostly from digital painting you just made me really sad :(. What you did is not ok and you are setting customers who trust your judgement up to be sued if they publish products using those textures.
If there was a report button on the assetstore page I would feel obligated to click it, and pass the decision on to the assetstore team, because your actions have the potential to harm others (in addition to violating the rights of whoever owns the rights to gigers artworks currently, and imho being morally wrong). Whether you think this is fair or justified has no influence on the possible consequences.
The aspect of copyright law you claim protects you, is meant to protect things like art and satire, your texturepack is neither.
You did not add any personality to this. The textures look like Giger's paintings, whether or not you mashed them together from 1, 2 or 10 original paintings each doesn't matter imho.

If you just take 10 of my pictures, clone-stamp them together and sell the result, you can be sure I'd take measures to make it stop.

    Just my 2 cents...

    Well that's well hidden.

@JohnRossitter: I'd really prefer you change your mind yourself and see why you can't sell this as a product. So please reconsider. If you insist you are allowed to do this I'll report the asset and let the asset store team figure this out. I really don't want to cause you any harm, I just want you to understand an artists point of view. You wouldn't want parts of your assets or games frankensteined together and resold, would you?

Feel free to use other avenues such as the report icon for assets on asset store. Not sure what we can do about it from this end as it's a matter for the asset store team.

I deprecated the package the other day after considering it.

I would definitely avoid derivative works in the game industry as while it may or may not be legal for you, it's an entirely different ballgame for a developer who has to defend themselves from frivolous lawsuits, which cost time and money. In your case you merely can stop selling it. It's not that simple or easy for a game.

I've locked this thread as it's run it's course.
