How many talented teams frequent these forums with potentially outstanding game ideas but lack the funding to start or complete their projects?

I have seen some fabulous WIP screenshots that often never move on or seem to progress at such a speed that the probability is that they will never see the light of day.

I work in the film industry raising finance for films, but my heart has always been in the games industry since purchasing my first computer, a ZX81!

I have a little more free time on my hands and I am considering raising funds to help set up one maybe two indie game studios (the first studio would be UK based simply because of logistics as I work mainly in Europe).

I am only interested in small teams who are initially looking to develop on mobile platforms. I have yet to scope out all the details, but I am considering a number of scenarios with various budgets not exceeding £250,000 for the first studio.

I would value the thoughts from this community especially any teams that have been or are looking for somebody to invest in them.

Go small first. Move in with your parents and live in the garage if you have to! That with a part-time job should get you enough funding for a small mobile game.

And if you project is much larger....well...

This is the 2015! We now have KICKSTARTER, INDIEGOGO, use them to fund your big games!

I think it is a great idea.

We have relations with a couple of venture capitalists / investment firms already, some that just want to invest and trust us to get the job done, others that want to take on a more active role and even others that, as you are suggesting, start their own game company by way of a team that already has a prototype and a promising concept.

It never hurts to add another contact that has experience in raising venture capital though.

I am not looking to raise fund for my project... I raise funds for film projects and I am looking to this talented community to find one or two teams that have started work on promising projects that would consider becoming a game studio with a cash injection.

This is exactly what I am suggesting. I know this forum is frequented by talented individuals and teams that probably would struggle or lack the time to raise a meaningful amount of cash.

    Hello Andy,

I am interested in your skill set bro! I have a project that is an online game for PC, I hope this doesn't exclude me from your consideration. After investigating crowd funding I would like to explore alternatives also. I am located in the U.S. and I am interested in a very special organizational approach that would require some discussion. If you are sincere and my project being PC based isn't a deal breaker, I would appreciate hearing from you.

    Best,
    Montie Miles

I'll go Indiegogo soon. Kickstarter in EU is limited to UK, NL, DN and NR. Its a glory or death process but better this with a prototype than with a finished game in hands.

I am a photographer and Game/Dev from Canada presently living in Sintra, Portugal. I am very interested in your thoughts on funding. Presently i am looking at doing a point and click game on Sintra. I have been the photographer for the last 2.5 years in Sintra, and have created a massive library of images. Sintra is a magical place, and the perfect place to base a game around.
In a previous life I used to work for EA Sports on FIFA, NHL etc. I also worked on Final Fantasy 7.
I have some strong allies in the film and game industry who will help and mentor in the project.

I have recently spoken to the Municipality of Sintra, and they said they would gladly help in the marketing and promotion. I also have a strong dev on board, who is an old friend.
I am presently in the process of creating my proposal for fundraising...and then I came across your post.

Please have a look at my portfolio.

    With respect.
