Final gather broken?

    Even on a very low setting, final gather causes an out of memory error when baking lightmaps for a moderately complex/large scene (PC targetted). I have 32gb of ram. Without final gather the result is unusable. Is anyone else having this problem?

    We haven't seen Final Gather cause out of memory situations. Is it possible for you to share the scene?

    Unfortunately I'm not in a position to share the scene, but the fact that this is not a general bug is potentially good news. Do you have any ideas about the kinds of things I could look for that may result in a "application has run out of memory" error?

    I will create some test scenes and try to track down the cause.

    If you have "application has run out of memory" problem, You need to upgrade your system ram to 16gb or more. After i upgraded my system ram to 16gb, my problem was solved. You also need to use unity 5.4.1 +.

    5.5 was looking promising in this regard, but once I hit about 8 million triangles in the scene, the same out of memory error came back during the final gather phase. I have 32gb of ram, which you would think would be enough, and 400gb free on the hard drive for swapping. If Unity would allow you to bake a selection, rather than it always having to be the entire scene, it would make things a lot easier.
