File menu disabled – can't save, can't build. Any others?

I'm running 2017.3.1p4 on Mac OS High Sierra. The entire File menu is disabled, as is part of the Unity menu:

This makes it impossible to save, build and access any preferences and settings. (The only way to save is to quit the application.) The problem is not unique to 2017.3.1p4 but started some time ago. Also, it doesn't appear in every project; I see no pattern to it.

I can't reproduce it, there's nothing similar in the error db, and the project is too large to submit using the bug reporter; thus I have no case number, and Unity support is totally unlikely to touch it.

There's this fix to a similar problem: https://forum.unity.com/threads/menu-items-disabled-after-playing-in-editor.443568/ but it doesn't help in my case.

So. Does anyone else experience the same thing, and if so, is there a fix?

Could you make a bug report, please?

Karl, did you read what I just wrote? "I can't reproduce it, there's nothing similar in the error db, and the project is too large to submit using the bug reporter; thus I have no case number, and Unity support is totally unlikely to touch it."

If you want a bug report without an attached project, fine, I can do that.

However, it seems that this is not a Unity bug per se, but a bug caused by the new Unity Hub. Check out the last entries in this thread:

Yes its still worth reporting even if you cant provide a repro. You can provide the screenshots and a link to the other forum. Its possible that we can fix the issue just by knowing the symptoms so its always worth reporting.

I'm experiencing this same issue. I'm also using 2017.3.1p4 on macOS High Sierra. This only seems to be happening when I launch with Unity Hub 0.17.0. If I launch Unity directly, the problem does not occur.

This happens to me occasionally as well, seemingly randomly. If I quit and restart it fixes.
