It would be useful to select different packages to add to a newly created project form the Hub. Otherwise adding packages to a project would only be able to happen after the project is open via Package Manager in the editor.

Just to clarify - This would be an addition to the Hub and not a replacement for the Package Manager. It is still useful to be able to add packages after a project is created with the Package Manager inside the editor.

Any news on if this will be a possibility? It would be pretty useful when creating new projects.

For example, creating a new project you would
    - select a template (Maybe this system could also read the packages included and ask to update or continue)
    - choose packages from your local storage (Already possible) and/or add packages that (Unity released - From the same repo as the package manager) you don't already have. Let's say cinemachine and TextMesh Pro etc
    - This would add downloaded packages as the Package manager would and update the manifest file
