    Unity 3.5 (free edition)

    vast terrain mass-foliage
max 109 draw calls (lowest 65 draw calls)

but feedback not for performance but for visual appeal of the level would be great
It is a work in progress for a planned commercial title.
I'm working hard and aim to get this game finished "soon"

    it looks nice.
may be you can increase the quailty of your scene by:
    - increasing the aniso level on the terrain textures (see picture 2).
    - making a secend version of your primary tree: just open it in any 3d app rotate and rescale it a bit, bring it back into unity and mix it on the terrain with the original version: this will give you some variety even as far as billboarded trees are concerned (see picture 2)
    - add some more different garss textures (dry grass/ high grass /…)

    - do you use billboarded grass? do not!

    Hi

    thanks for your advice

so, not to use billboard grass?
I thought it's better for the performance, but agree it looks a bit fake

    also what I wanna ask
I use trees from Unity - some of them hang over the ground
is there a way I can lower them into the terrain?
I tried to lift the terrain in Y-axis but the trees lift up as well

By the way, your scene looks stunning
    well done

you have to open the tree’s fbx file in a 3d app (blender/maya/cinema 4d – whatever) and raise it’s pivot just a litte bit. then save it and bring it back into unity:

it is just a screenshot from far cry 2 which i thought might fit to your scene ;-)

Nice screenshots! But 109 draw calls? Is that even remotely possible with scenes that big?
