    Hi

I have fbx files that show up in unity. But not in the camera.
Because of the NDA all I can say that they are Fbx exported in a new manner from the current beta version of the program. The earlier versions had some issues that were addressed. Now the export is much better, but the fbx files are coming into Unity workspace and camera doesn't see them.
    Any suggestions?

Do you mean the beta of unity? If so, try an earlier version and see if they work there. If you mean a beta of some 3d program, you'll have to check with the developer. There simply isn't enough information to go on.

Not a beta of unity. But another program that exports to FBX. I'm hoping someone can give me something to try. It seems that the developer is about as clueless as I am. Is there anything that would keep an fbx object from showing up in the camera?

Are the normals reversed somehow? Idk why it would show up in the editor then though:/

How would I check for the normals reversed?

Ask your developer. We could help if it were a mainstream tool like Blender, Maya, etc. Chances are the normal are corrupt or incorrect or some of your fbx data doesn't comply to the fbx spec, but no way for us to know.

If it shows in the editor, and not in the game, and not throwing errors, it is most likely a camera or render setting issue. Have you tried it in a new project scene? When you select your camera, do you see it in the camera preview window?

Does it have an animation attached? If so try disabling the anim.

When you hit play, can you still see the object in the scene view or does it disappear there too?

Can you import the fbx into another 3d app? Does it look ok in it?

If one of those doesn't help solve it, you'll need to check with the developer.

    Thanks,
It shows up in the in the editor and game but not in the camera preview. Or the game itself.

I will try an new scene.

It dose have animation attached. I will try removing the animation or exporting with no animation.

I can not test in another 3d application. It is using a special written c+ script to import into Unity.

I got the feeling that the beta team looked at the preview window and said. "Looks fine," and never tested it completely in Unity.

So does it show up in the game or not?

My guess is that it's on a layer that your game camera is masking out.

My guess is the first "game" he intended to say scene.

Good call on the layer, if it is generated it could easily be something like that.

Is camera pointing at the model? May be the issue since you can see it in the scene but not in play mode and preview.
