fatal content error

    you're the FIRST and ONLY person who has posted a "fix" to this error. I've been looking and looking and thank GOD someone finally said "hey, this is what I found, and now it works".

    I'm actually encouraged that it *could* be something on my side. Right now, we're supposed to deliver this product today/this weekend, and all of the sudden, it's stopped working with "Fatal content error" and nothing else to go on.

    I'll post back if/when i find out what was hosing us. Thanks again - John

    I hit this problem when building a web player: "The content was stopped because a fatal content error has been detected."

    I tried to find a similarity with neoriley's fix. To summarize his issue: "the web build would crash the web player when it tried to load a Prefab that contained a mesh/fbx that had no compression applied with the FBX import settings.". Other searches turned up other seemingly unrelated things.

    I went through all my FBX models and set their compression to off. That didn't work. I just now switched them all to "low", then recalled that under my build settings I might not have "switched platforms" before doing the web build. It is in fact possible to build a version without Unity being set to that version mode. In the Build Settings window, there is a Unity icon next to the platform the editor is "running in". Could building outside of Unity's platform mode cause these problems?

    I failed to mention that It's now working, due to those last changes... I THINK.

    Has anyone found anyway to get crash information from the webplayer? My program never crashes in Editor or standalone but crashes randomly in the webplayer. the only information I can get is

    120306 23:16:08 Setting error display: 'The content was stopped because a fatal content error has been detected.', details: 'The content was stopped because a fatal content error has been detected.', link: 0

    in the webplayer log.

    can anyone put this process on video not really sure how to do what is being said here. Having same problem on mac 10.4.11 whatever version that is.

    just to try some more here to help krumped out a bit> what happened to me to get this error, was because on my level i had my main character hitting a collider that would delete him and respawn a new character..if you play my game AWG Radio: Santa Job, you will see that when you the character (rollerblader santa) grinds his way back up the mountaintop he hits a collider at the top of the mountain which turns him into a snowboarding santa again and deletes the rollerblading santa....so, what happened was that i had TOO MANY of these colliderhit triggers that respawn the main character to change into another character and that his how i got this error... so, how i fixed it was that i simply got a rid of the too many colliderhit triggers that respawn new characters..wierdest thing is that i can keep all these colliderhit trigger respawners in the PC version of this game and have no errors !

    I am using Alien 18mx and Windows Exporer.
    Recently, I have been dealing with this same issue....
    The project runs excellent on the development computer whether Mac or Win 7.
    After up-loading to my server if I fire up the game over the internet I get that error.
    I have been researching the problem and trying to find the problem....
    So, I started by erasing all terrains and re-upload.... Ran perfect over the internet...
    So, I put all terrains back in and only erased the two terrains that have grown to 17 and 20 meg..... Ran Perfect...
    I put back in both large file terrains and only erased 1.... Re-uploaded and .... ran fine.....
    Again, but with only the other large file terrain back in and other out..... Re-uploaded.... ran fine....
    But both large terrains back in..... Failed right after full load again.....
    It is looking like this problem has to do with simply to much data or too big a file running over the web....
    My project is a 78 meg Web streaming version with 130 terrains and only two terrains with HQ textures and trees....
    This project is not complete and will be growing... Do I need to keep file size to a limit in order to stream???
    Unity Support.... Please conquer this challange.... !

    I have the same problem, but it only occurred the first time I downloaded my application, which is 28.6M. I think it has something to do with a timeout because it only happened the first time my game was downloaded and it hasn't happened since. The next time I rebuild I'll be curious to see if it does it again.

    i play a game called super hero squad online and it is powered by unity but the same thing is happening to me. how can i play without it logging me out every 10 seconds?
