Hey guys. I've been getting my butt kicked in unity lately. Does anyone know of a better way to add isometric tiles in unity? I checked the asset store and most of what saw were programs that seemed too complicated (or maybe it's just me.) I'm trying to create this level as quick as possible and I want to be able to just click on my asset and just paint away. Your response will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

System I used when tiling was having a matrix of ints the size of terrain you want
after that just add a on mouse pressed event on each tile, and have a button that allows you to chose a certain terrain type and then just paint away :) update the info in the matrix and repaint. this system allows for different materials as well as different models/prefabs entirely and all you have to do is save the matrix information

What about using Unity 2d tilesheets? Instead of 3d objects, or do u require 3d tiles?

Also try looking at the 2d toolkit asset, it has options to paint with tilesheets.

I do not if it is possible.

Maybe you can use a 2d map to store map information.

And then, read the map to generate level.

If you're willing to get Pro Builder, it will let you "paint" textures to faces.

So you build your world geometry first, then go back, select your materials from a palette, then simply click the faces to apply them.

I notices your tiles look out of alignment, are you holding down "V" to snap vertices?
