Love what you are doing - looks amazing!!

My only comment is that humans (if the place is indeed inhabited by humans) tend to add elements to the natural environment for a reason - to serve a purpose.

The fence near the "red" tree - does it really need to be there? Does it serve a purpose?

The reason I mention this is that a world will render much faster if it is not bogged down in extraneous, unnessary objects, architecture etc - and will provide the user with a more fluid, immersive experience.

There is nothing more annoying than a beautiful environment that is great to look at - but slow and jerky to move around.

Not that you world is like this just yet. Great work tho!!!!!!

    Thx for comments :)

This barrier is placed because I will add a path to temple entrance's door, next to the tree.
It's kind of ancient holy place dedicated to a divinity that venerated the ancient tribe.

New pictures : city entrance. (Wip)

The ancient Magi found a way to convert the lava. Now, in place of it flows a fluid that nourishes the trees of gods.

In red, what will be added soon.

amazing scenery, breathtaking. I like the rising water vapor near the waterfall, and the godrays in the video near that pinkish tree.

About the only thing that needs a bit of work is the terrain mesh, there are quite a few "pointy edges" visible.

Looks very nice so far, though I suspect you are using the default jump from the FPS controller right now as you are able to jump up vertical walls by spamming the space bar :)

    Very nice update :)

Are you making a game out of this or just some scenery? Either way, beautiful.

This, is simply the best fantasy terrain I have ever seen, not only using unity but by any game, nothing really matches the sense of awe as the light shines through those ominous towers.

    Absolutely bloody fantastic.

The use of height inspires a sense of vertigo which makes me reminiscent of the original Unreal :)

The cliff walls are a bit bland though, i know they're part of the landscape system but you could potentially augment them :)

    thx for comments!

As I said, it's just a wip, nothing is definitive, I have to clean models, uv, create color map for entrance, add trees, roots, vegetations, fill pit with specials plants, create rocks to hide ugly stretchy textures on terrain :D

    Code (csharp):
    1. Wouldn't your talent be better channeled in an AAA game studio ?
    Part of my dreams :)

With how your little project is going, I think this would be an excellent ability package to present for a job in such studios :D

After all, that's also what Unity could be made for ;)

Your Maya to Unity workflow is outstanding to say the least, you should be very proud of yourself.

Just out of curiosity, how long have you spent on this project?

New size for crystals and Stone wall added to replace terrain's stretching effect.

To do: tower's uvs (argh!) and map. Add vegetation.

Looks good! You should check out the gem shader for those crystals. Might make them pop a little more. Unless that is the look you are going for.

Credits to you and your work, I gasped when I first looked through the first page of this thread, and couldn't stop watching the following pages of screenshots!

I also tried the online version, and I gasped even more. The only thing I have to "pick on" is that when I was moving around, the background music was actually being pitched/stretched/distorted, but it stopped when I stopped moving, and started again when I began moving; perhaps something you would want to look into.

Otherwise nothing to complain about, loved exploring the scenery and look at all the "World Heritage Sites" you've made in it. :) Sign it up for UNESCO's list! :D

Again, major credits to you for your awesome piece of art!

    New demo online:

    http://game.irilys.eu/olivier/zone01.html

You can visit now city entrance zone.

Don't be afraid about "popping" effect on the entrance, in fact I have to add a corridor to easily switch visiblity (I use layers to add or remove parts of the world, depending of the visibility or not)

Wow...this looks amazing...really shows the power of good art. I love the pink tree screenshot on page 4 (think it was 4...)

Btw, I'm guessing you're supposed to be able to turn with the mouse? Because I don't seem to be able to use the mouse, which is bizarre...maybe a webplayer problem?

    Hi!
Some color modifications. Columns room is almost finished (have to add decorations and uv to unfold).

Next to the garden village, a staircase plunges into the mountain leading to an intersection. Straight, visitor progress toward city entrance.

If he turn to the right he can visits collumn room.

    Wow!

I'm not sure how I can describe my reaction any better. That artwork looks astonishing! It has a distinct "fantasy" feel to it, it matches the title of your work in progress.

I'm keeping a close eye with the progress in your work, it's fascinating.

looking really nice , serious work you've put in that congrat ,

the last screen aren't a bit over purple saturated by the way , maybe you could tone down a bit the overall purple and let just the crystal area pop up, or try to get a secondary color to complement that purple color inside this area so is not that obvious and all over the place ..just a suggestion ^^

    great work so far ;)

    thx all !

You're right, I have to decrease saturation a bit. I'll do that in next update.
I have to add vegetation now, fun part of the work for me :)

How did you get the City Entrance to go past the Terrain wall like that? I've always heard that there were all sorts of problems that arose when trying to create caves and such.

I also absolutely love the Pink Tree. You did an excellent job on the roots! Is there a story background at all?

P.S. Another question: I'm assuming that you added colliders to the natural stone bridges outside the towers, Hm?

I mix terrain and geometry. With same texture and correct lightmapping, you can fake the entrance.
I have kind of story in my head, but the goal is actually only to make a zone :)
    There is collisions, yes !

Looks very good, I'm just curious but why don't you plan on using these scenes for a game? Is it because you have a difficult time writing code? Well, if it is I'm sure that you can find someone here that will be more than happy to help.

Yes, it's because I don't code and I don't have the time to learn scripting :/

New online demo is updated, as always you can find it here:
