ima be honest people dont go to FPS's for their story at least the 5.6million copies of COD black ops can test to that...

so what new innovative features are you going to bring to your game that will make others want to do what your doing?

    keithsoulasa, thank you very much!

Yeah, I agree, but if the story is better, maybe more people will like the game!
I think the most important thing we'll introduce in the game is the destruction. There will be 2 levels of destruction for each object. It could be partially destroyed or completely destroyed.
Another thing is that the game is in a near future, so we can introduce a lot of weapons that now are only experimental (for example XM8). I think it's amazing, isn't it?

By the way, we've just started, so we still haven't many ideas about new feautures, but there will be! Trust me! We're working on the project something like 16 hours a day to improve the gameplay and we haven't had enoght time to think about new features :D

P.S. We're searching for a modeler! If someone is interested, contact me :D

    Hello,

    it works well!
Your story unfolds in interiors + outdoor or just in interiors?
I created the package makeYOURlevel to build interiors and I search someone to do a demo level with a game concept. I can send you a free copy of makeYOURlevel in exchange for a webplayer I will use for demo (just the WebPlayer, i don't need the sources).
You can read the thread ant test some "empty" webplayer here.
Contact me if you are interested.

    Good luck!

Hi ogier, my story is in interior and in exterior, so for me it's ok if we use makeYOURlevel with our source for a level! I sent you a PM!

Looks good but I agree with Mawz, start thinking about something that will set the game apart from other FPS games. For me futuristic weapons does not to the trick, a good story might.

Could you reveal some of the story line? That might help us with coming up with ideas.

Personally I love when a game forces you to make choices, like in a building you need to kill everybody but you can choose to let civilans live or die, your actions will then affect the story in the future.

I can't Agree with MaWz, if there is no good scenario for now, its the fault of the companies who develops the game, we players just play what they give to us.
That does not mean that we have no interest in playing an FPS with a good scenario.

So, Enka, if you do have a good one, you should do your best with it.
But yeah, you will also need a +alpha in order to attract players to your game.

Because of course FPS are very popular.

Infact one of the most innovative think is sometimes you'll choose what to do and the story will have some small changes in conceguence! Our great storyliner is writing the story with all the missions, trying to introduce the possibility of choose what to do (ssometimes).

Infact, I agree with you! And shure, we'll launch before an Alpha multiplayer test and then all the game with the story! Is our idea :D

There needs to be something more, right now there is no real sales pitch or draw to this. Its using modern weapons, and if I want modern and realistic Ill go to Battle Field or COD.

If my game is story based I dont go full throttle on creating the whole story and dialogue script. I first would have a very loose idea in my head about the direction I want to take the game. First, a setting (this covers location, characters, motives and time). Second, are we going for real or some form of alternate reality or futuristic. Third, what are the CORE mechanics you want to achieve.

Once you have these ideas you can then begin designing the actual gameplay. The mistake I see made over and over and over on these forums is using some gun model, some sounds and effects with an FPS camera and thinking that your project is basically complete and JUST needs the story to evolve around it, or JUST needs the gameplay to fall around that. Focus on creating the gameplay first, I say this time and time again; if youre game is not fun to play with just cubes and placeholders, no amount of art will make it fun.

A great project to look at is BlackReef Pirates, its a fantastic example of what to do right. It started as all placeholders and simple geometry with no textures. Once the core mechanics were completed that he set forth for himself, he moved on to asset creation and polishing gameplay

hellraizerhhh, you're right. The story is just complete, so now we're working on gamplay, but certainly a modeller is not a bad thing, isn it?

Not a bad thing at all :) Just out of development order in my opinion. Regardless of my input I wish you the best, I want everyone to succeed. Even if you dont succeed you learned invaluable lessons in a great program

ima be honest the most prominent known FPS's have had a terrific story. Deus Ex, need I say more?

Actually, the amateur storytelling of recent FPS's have driven me away from them entirely. You'd also be surprised how many people buy COD just for the campaign.

Lastly, as generations of kids progress to adulthood, most will realize just how unfun an online FPS can be at times. I mean unless you have 10 hours to dedicate to practicing your skills while holding a job and taking care of a family, then you're going to have a tough time actually competing with kids. Have you ever thought about why zombie mode in FPS's, Minecraft, Borderlands, etc. have grown in popularity? Co-op. It's relaxing and we get our entertainment for the day.

I guess what I'm trying to say here, a great story in a FPS can give that audience of gamers a great deal of entertainment for their money. Instead of a kid on the other side with his 'professional gamer team' delegating your entertainment.

Hi! Infact, our story-boarder is writing a incredibly intricated story (that will be released soon). We don't want to create a cod-like story, but one in which people might identify themselves and have fun. Even the scenary will change during the story: Middle East is the start, but then there is Europe, and at last China! But don't worry: we'll release our story maximum at the end of next january!

What do you think about weapons?

Looks really good, but I have to agree with a lot of the posts that support the idea of adding a story component. It's good to see that you are implementing story elements, because graphic splendor eventually wears off. When I first started playing Skyrim, I was thinking, "WOW....nice graphics!!!" After about 20 minutes, I was no longer impressed. The story, characters, and quest are what have kept me attracted to it more than anything else; it's the one thing that hasn't worn away.

Also, I have a question. What particle pack is that you are using for bullet impacts? I'm curious because I've seen something nearly identical in the Unity game Rush Team.

Hi Aaron! I agree with you about the story! Infact, we'll make a campaign mode in our game and a multiplayer one! And our story will be very intricated. We have a story-boarder who's writing it with very dettails! I'm sure you all will like that story!

For your question: I'm not sure, but I think I took the particles from Bootcamp!

Thank you very much! I know that musics are annoying, but unfortunatly we don't have someone who can make our own music! We'll try to find some better music that everyone should like! Stay tuned!
