Did anybody find a reliable solution? I have been reading different solutions but nothing work for me, as changing path, trying to create the project straight from Unity.ex, etc ...

    Hub 3.1.2

    Editors:
    2022.1.6.f1
    2020.3.36f1 (LTS)

    Thanks

Hub 3.2.0 + Unity 2020 LTS. I had to shorten the project path. It was a whopping 80 characters long (no spaces or special chars), too much for Unity to handle it seems o_O

The error said it could not find and unpack the template (was attempting to use the URP sample). I guess the unpacking comand was too long due to the file path and thus it failed. Why on earth is this still an issue after years of reports by users?!?

Also upgraded from HUB 2.4.3 to 3.2.0, I wish I did not. Now I need ~6 clicks instead of 2 to make a new project *sigh*

*I know me ranting here does not increase the chances of anyone from Unity replying but I had to get this off my chest. Using the HUB is such a frustrating experience and it has been like that for years.

I installed 20.3.9F1 and this happened to me. This is the first time I installed Unity. How can it fail to decompress when the tar.gz is there?

Same issue. None of the solutions have worked, not path name, not project name, not reinstalling, not rebooting. Seriously, how can you release something that doesn't even let you create a project without an error like this???

This issue is still on Unity Hub 3.2.0 and they still haven't fixed it. I've tried 5 times and it always gives me the error. Shouldn't Unity Technologies have fixed it by now?

HELLO EVERYONE- I FIXED IT REALLY EASYLIY,
WHEN YOU ARE CREATING ANY KIND OF PROJECT, IN TEMPLATE SECTION, THERE IS A DROP DOWN MENU WHICH LETS YOU CHOOSE A DIFFERENT EDITOR. CHANGE IT AND USE A DIFFERENT VERSION OF EDITOR.THAT'S ALL

Its seem i solve a problem because of this

you need to click the EDITOR VERSION this will malfuction the version of Unity hub because the old Unity Hub version can't read any somekind of texture or any model wasn't been found on the file because of the update i hope it help

also notice:YOU NEED TO CLICK THE LATEST VERSION OF "EDITOR VERSION" NOT THE OLD VERSION

This still seems to be a problem on Unity Hub 3.4.1 and Unity 2021.3.16f1 LTS. In my case, I fixed it by shortening the path. Following the suggestion in post #11, you can then remove the newly created project from the list of projects in the Unity Hub, move the project folder to the desired location, and finally re-add it to the hub.

Having the same issue. I don't understand this 75 character limit thing. Restarted the computer, the project name is short it's just "test". Never had this issue before. I have my basically empty SSD storing my projects so it's not a space thing..

    Run as administrator? Doesn't work.
Shorter File Path? "C:\Unity" Doesn't work.
    No space in Harddisk? NO.
Unzip manually and change name with .tgz? Doesn't work.

Still in Unity Hub 3.4.2. And 2022.3.2f1.

Maybe now i have to work with Unreal 5.
Unity doesn't even support to make a simple PROJECT... Holy.

hi, check if there is enough space on HDD as first step

Also make project path as short as possible and without gaps or special characters

Thanks for replying but I used SaharaBob's method and it worked after taking ages to get to the actual file.It helps a lot you should try it and anyways i didn't have very much space on HDD but i think i had just enough.
