I noticed something similar. For me it's not that bad in the editor menus, but when I click and drag the mouse in the Game view my FPS drops drasically.
My gif is just a standard unity scene, no SRP project and stock unity utility FPS counter UI in this example:
Noticed this when i had a mobile Joystick UI and the game slowed down extremely whenever I moved it. At first I was shocked but it seemed it only happened in the editor.
I have a very similar, if not the same PC setup:
Win 10 Pro (Version 1803) x64
GTX 980 (non ti)
Hey, this is exactly like my case I found at the beginning of this year. It is not from the recent version.
And also when I swap from G402 mouse to a no name mouse the lag is gone.
Oh, that's interesting, I actually replaced my mouse a few weeks ago.
The model I'm using is a: Roccat Kone pure optical owl-eye
And thanks to your info I think I just found the culprit!
It seems to be the mouse polling rate, I can switch it in the settings for the mouse, DPI does NOT matter.
At 125Hz and 250Hz the editor kept the FPS at 60 for me.
But at 500Hz it starts going down to 45-50 FPS
And at 1000Hz it fell down to 30 FPS again.
I also have a laggy editor. When I select a gameobject with a mesh renderer in the hierarchy everything slows down. Can't even scroll the inspector without serious lag. I am using LWRP not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Thanks for the reports, we're investigating. Could you please submit bug reports for these issues if you're able to reproduce them consistently?
