    Hi All,

I'm trying to make some modifications to the characters and animations but I cannot get blender to import these FBX files for some reason. It is throwing errors. I am new to blender. Any tips would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Had have the same issue.
The Asset Pipeline is very strange.
I found 4 different fbx export versions.
    Some are in fbx ASCII.
You could try Blender BOS fbx importer.

I'll give that a try. Thanks very much. I certainly agree that there are a lot of different formats that don't necessarily play well with various other editors.

Some FBX's will have been exported by outsource providers, who have had the freedom to work with the programs and program versions that suited them. In that sense all bets are off. This is however not the case for character animation and character models. These have all been exported from Maya 2017.4 using a scripted exporter, so should be consistent. I have no experience with blender, but it might be worth checking that you are opening with an FBX version that is never then the one used for export (e.g. look up the FBX version for Maya 2017.4). Good luck, hope you get it working!
