I can use Unity as a client to record motion capture but I can find no way of exporting the animation as fbx so i can clean it up in Maya. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

I'm not sure if it would work for your case, but you could check Unity Recorder (you can install it via Package Manager.) I did indeed search for quite some time. I grabbed the FBX Exporter from the store, installed it and hit a brick wall. "Verify that the FBX Exporter is correctly installed by opening it (from the top menu: GameObject > Export To FBX)." I got no menu item - until I booted up today and it was there! Thanks for your reply.
