Experiences with Unity for non-gaming thesis?

I wondered if there is anybody who used Unity for a non-gaming related master thesis?

I was thinking about using Unity to "interactively visualize multidimensional time series data". Similiar to what Hans Rosling did at TED (see here and here). Only in 3D, more interactive, better looking and waaaay cooler :D

I am bit of a functional language buff and with Unity 2, using F# - Mono 1.2.5 :) - I might convince a Prof. to take this. So anybody willing to share his/her experiences with Unity in an academic environment?

    Thanks,
    Alex

I know there was talks for a project for a human genome 3d data visualization. Not sure if that got off the ground or not.

    Cheers,

There was a project timing issue that I wasn't able to jump on that project. You should PM him if you want his info.

    Cheers,
