Exception: Il2cpp.exe Did Not Run Properly!

    Hi!

    I'm just upgraded to Unity 2018.3.12f1 and tried to build my project using IL2CPP. I pressed the Build button on Build Settings Window. After everything is over, there was "Build completed with a result of 'Succeeded' " message in the console window with two error messages. And then, my project folder's location was open instead of give me my APK file. Then, i opened the project folder and there was not any APK file in it again.

    I can't fix. Can you help me?

    JoshPeterson : I suspect those '?' characters that are not part of the ASCII character set. I think that the Android NDK has trouble with these characters. I would recommend locating your Unity project in a path which has only ASCII characters. That might work.

    Just removing parentheses from my project folder name resolved the issue. Thanks a lot!!!

    I have similar error. I have tried what you said but error didnt clear.

    These are my error logs.

    I'm just upgraded to Unity 2018.3.12f1 and tried to build my project using IL2CPP. I pressed the Build button on the Build Settings Window. After everything is over, there was "Build completed with a result of 'Succeeded' " message in the console window with two error messages. And then, my project folder's location was open instead of giving me my APK file. Then, I opened the project folder and there was not any APK file in it again.

    Same issue here. We can see "facebook" in the error log, it must have something to do with the facebook sdk. I was using facebook sdk 7.16.0 before, I downgraded it to 7.15.1, issue fixed.
    Before we downgraded the facebook sdk, we must delete both FacebookSDK and PlayServiceResolver folders manually, then import the facebook sdk version 7.15.1.

    After upgrading to 7.16 il2cpp builds are failing on Android and archiving is failing on iOS.

    You are right, im running another build to post my errors. It may be related to our upgrade from unity v2017.4 to unity 2019.1. The only thing which fails atm is the building process.

    EDIT: I solved my issue. The il2cpp process couldnt run because apparently one of my plugins was set to "all platforms", though it only has to be set to iOS. It seems like this didnt transfer over to the new unity version and it set it to the default value "all platforms" instead. Setting it back to only "iOS" solved it for me.

    for me it work as go to C:\Program Files\Unity\Editor\Data\il2cpp/build/il2cpp.exe path right click on il2cpp.exe -> properties -> compatiblity -> select run this program as an administrator and change this setting to all user -> apply -> ok

    Hope this will work.

    Few questions:
    1. Are you able to build with Mono scripting backend selected?
    2. The error indicates that's some executable is missing, I assume you installed both SDK & NDK. Though I would imagine a more informative message should have been provided, if NDK is missing
    3. Can you build with empty project + single script?

    Looks the same as this one - https://forum.unity.com/threads/build-il2cpp-errors-please-how-fix-it.492556/ seems like there's actually a bug.

    If you want you can submit one as well, with repro project.

    Oh no... so I should downgrade to 1.0 huh?
    Ya building with mono is totally fine.

    I hope opening the project with 1.0 will have no trouble at all from 1.9
    also annoying that 2019.1.0 can't be installed from the hub. have to use installer I guess...

    EDIT:
    unfortunately I'm experiencing the same error with 2019.1.0.

    hello please help me

    Unity 2018.3.12f1 and tried to build my project using IL2CPP. I pressed the Build button on Build Settings Window. After everything is over, there was "Build completed with a result of 'Succeeded' " message in the console window with two error messages. And then, my project folder's location was open instead of give me my APK file. Then, i opened the project folder and there was not any APK file in it again.

    Please put the ndk folder into c drive. Space of c drive should be more then 20 GB.Same problem was solved from my side. UNITY2018.4.2

    Hello All,

    I tried to build android APK with il2cpp in unity version 2019.2.0f1 and got below exception and it did not even generate an APK. With mono, it is working fine. Can someone please tell me what could I do to possibly solve this?

    Just FYI, I have installed the unity version from Unity Hub, and this is the first time I installed a unity version from the hub. Also, my unity installation directory is in D drive.

    Yes, try running with admin privileges . I am not actually sure why it's happening, maybe the folder where you installed Unity, has somekind of elevated security setup.

    Try to run Unity as an administrator. This error usually means there is some permissions issue with the Unity installation that prevents il2cpp.exe from running.

    Solved: Exception: Il2cpp.exe Did Not Run Properly! with long error descriptions.

    I was getting same error and i fixed it. As pointed out by @JoshPeterson from Unity Technologies from this thread https://forum.unity.com/threads/build-il2cpp-errors-please-how-fix-it.492556/
    my project path had some non-ASCII character something like "Mission_5_0.1" so I changed it to "Mission501" and same thing for Unity Editor path folder name was like "/Hub/Unity_2019.2.4f1" so i changed it to "/Hub/Unity2019" and it worked :)

    Solved: if error log containing "no such file or directory" and you not have non-ASCII character in path files:
    can resolve by downloading NDK manually from https://developer.android.com/ndk/downloads/older_releases.html currently its Revision 16b, and specify short path in unity properties as "d:\NDK\android-ndk-r16b"

    To Unity Technologies: some systems have a limit on how long path can be, when unityhub by default download NDK to "c:\Program Files\Unity\Hub\Editor\2019.2.15f1\Editor\Data\PlaybackEngines\AndroidPlayer\NDK" you make a very long base path, and when IL2CPP go deeply into NDK folder it exceed the limit.

    Same issue, moved the NDK to a shorter path and it worked.

    yet, last time I installed Unity 2019.2.11f1 everything worked fine, without these changes, and only using the included SDKs and NDKs.

    Yet in my dev rig Unity keeps looking for a 2020alfa folder when putting a check on the "use Android NDK/SDK installed with Unity", in the preferences window.

    I couldn't find that string in the windows registry so, where should I be able to change that value?
    Is there a file I can tweak?

    Btw: I uninstalled the 2020 alpha a while ago, I'm not sure about the reason it left me with a dirty Gradle/SDK/NDK setup.

    I had 5 versions installed and only thanks to GameSpire I have one working version, by completely overhauling the settings.

    This issue alone took me away more than 12 hours with all the installs/uninstalls I had to make just to have a working Unity installation to work on. :/

    Which, for a well-paying loyal user/freelancer on a contract with a deadline, is a bitter bite to swallow.

    Please have a look at this issue asap.

    This failure occurs because the code in the project has extern methods in C#. Methods marked as extern with a the [Dllimport("__Internal")] attribute must be present in a native library that is linked with the Unity player when building with the IL2CPP scripting backend.

    For example, this in this project one function which causes this issue is named: _MNP_ShowRateUsPopUp

    You have two options:

    1. Build a native library with all of the methods marked as extern with the [Dllimport("__Internal")] attribute for the target platform and architecture of the player. See this documentation for details about native plugins: https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/NativePlugins.html

    2. Remove the C# code which defines this extern method. You can do that with platform dependent compilation: https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/PlatformDependentCompilation.html

    I'm not entirely sure, but it looks like you might have more calls to MNIOSNative methods that are not wrapped in #if UNITY_IPHONE statements.

    Sorry, I'm not sure that I can help much more here. As I mentioned in my original reply, look for any method marked with the [DllImport("__Internal")] attribute. That are the ones causing the error in this case.

    It looks like the Android.c file might be a source file in your project that Unity is trying to compile along with the generated IL2CPP C++ code. Maybe this file has the wrong encoding, I'm not sure.

    i have problem with 2019.2.17f1 always with builtin sdk ndk and openjdk given by unity installation. i cant compile with il2cpp.its a game? no! why unity give me a version where can download all i need ans this is false? in any case its absurd that even a little change of version there is always thus problem. i ask to myself if you want support mobile programmers or not
