    Hey folks,

    We're encountering an odd problem with the Unity Web Player. On some of our machines we're getting "Error Launching Unity Web Player" when we try to view our Unity Web Player content.

    This only seems to happen in Firefox, and it is only happening on OS X 10.6.5; however it isn't consistent to all OS X 10.6.5 machines because some of our machines (running the same OS, browser, and Unity Web Player versions) do not have any problem viewing the content.

    Here's the console log showing attempts to view our content and then the Tropical Paradise Demo:

    101203 12:09:45 Loading Unity Player

    101203 12:11:20 Loading Unity Player
    101203 12:11:20 UnityPlayerLoading: Loading failed, trying in temp directory
    101203 12:11:21 Loader: Start Failed (-2)
    101203 12:11:21 Setting error display: 'Error launching Unity Player', details: 'Failed to create Unity loader', link: 1

    Any thoughts on what might be causing this error? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the plug-in as well as installing an older version of the plug-in and that didn't work.

    The strangest thing to me is that if I close Firefox entirely, open it up again and then visit the Tropical Paradise demo first, everything works fine. The Tropical Paradise demo loads properly and then if I visit the page with our web player it loads without a problem. If I then close Firefox, open it, and visit our content before the Tropical Paradise page I get the "Error launching Unity Player" message again.

    Thanks,
    Jared

    I saw this same error this morning. In my case, restarting Firefox fixed it, even when I went to my own web player first. (Firefox 7.0.1, Mac OS X 10.6.8, Unity 3.4.0f5.)

    In my case there wasn't nearly as much useful stuff in the console log, except perhaps this:
    11/4/11 8:15:11 AM [0x0-0x199d99c].org.mozilla.firefox[48273] Fri Nov 4 08:15:11 LA-J1.local plugin-container[48315] <Error>: CGImageCreateWithImageProvider: invalid image size: 0 x 0.

    Probably not helpful, but thought I'd contribute a data point.

    Same problem here:

    - unity3d free build for web;

    - problem occuring on some mac, only; no rules yet for what kind of mac and age;

    - ERROR: <Error>: CGImageCreateWithImageProvider: invalid image size: 0 x 0

    Somebody knows the problem?

    Hi guys,

    I just ran a test on our iMac here in the office running 10.6.8 OS X and I couldn't reproduce the error, here is what I did:

    1. Uninstall WebPlayer
    2. Install latest version (3.5.5f4) from our website: http://unity3d.com/webplayer
    3. Launched Firefox 15.0.1
    4. Opened our gallery section and loaded Tropical Paradise demo

    Are there any steps I'm missing here? what are you doing different?

    Have you managed to test any other OS X versions such as Lion or Mountain Lion?

    Thanks,
    Chris
