So we're getting closer to release with Emberlight, our latest game from Quarter Onion Games, but with the data driven approach, its very easy for us to make adjustments without large changes to our code and would love any critiques or feedback we can get here.

Emberlight is a roguelike dungeon crawler that sends a party of three heroes onto various quests to procedurally generated locations. Their goal is to defeat whatever evil lurks there. They empower themselves by observing enemy abilities and being able to recreate them. This acts as our "loot" system. Each ability is something new to use and provides their stat increases as they progress into harder levels. However, each ability begins to corrupt their essence with undefined results as the run progresses. This leads to the *ahem* fun aspect of the most corrupted hero turning evil at the end and killing off his former comrades (which the player gleefully gains the honors of at the end). These corrupted heroes then become bosses in new quests that the player must find a way to overcome.

Each run is aimed for around 30-60 minutes, with various unlocks gained via achievements during a run that expand the amount of room types, abilities, units, and more. With more units comes more abilities to specialize each character. More rooms present more questionable opportunities to strengthen (or weaken) the heroes or give access to unique encounters (such as a graveyard providing access to final level units at the beginning which provides a very tough battle with very useful abilities if the player chooses to interact).

Without further adieu, and more of a wall of text, we have a few videos to showcase the game in more detail below:

The game is mostly playable currently (working out some kinks in later levels), and we're definitely looking for some more testers interested in giving us some more hands on feedback if anyone is interested. We have the nightly build available on our Discord server for those interested.

Emberlight alpha has gone live and is available for our Patrons. The build has come a long way since early February, and we're getting much closer to release. At this point, we're open to anyone that has any feedback to make the game better, and invite everyone to join our Discord server to work with the team directly.

Here's the latest nightly build as we work towards beta:
