    Hi everyone,

Got a brand new iMac 24 running a M1 chip. I installed several editor versions from the LTS to the Beta but I got every time the same problem.
When I create a project, nothing added in the scene, the scene view and the game view starts flickering... the image disappear and reappear when I'm moving my mouse over the window scene view or the game view.

I googled this and tried several version: 2020.3.20f1, 2021.1.25f1, 2021.1.26f1, 2021.2.0b16 and 2021.2.0b16 Apple Silicon Preview.

I am wondering if I'm missing something ... how all of these versions can have the same issue...

Any help would be much appreciated.

Same issue. It seems to have started since upgrading my macOS to Monterey. It only seems to happen when running the Apple Silicon native preview. I can run the Intel build and it doesn't happen.

Ah, I have the exact same issue with 2020.3.20f1! Flickering, nothing in the scene and very sticky to use. I have Macbook Pro M1 and imported a unity package which was created and saved in a pc. I thought that was the problem!

No, I created a completely blank 3D project in 2021.2.0b16 for Apple Silicon and got the same flickering.

    From the other thread:
I switched my color space to linear from gamma and that fixed the flicker issue.

Yep, same for me. I'm also running an M1 MacBook Air running Unity 2020.3.22f1. Switching to Linear from Gamma stopped the flickering (which was super obnoxious). In fact it was less like flickering than straight up showing a gray screen that only refreshed when I selected an object in the scene in the Hierarchy.

can verify, similar issue. TV4Fun's method of switching it to linear color space seems to work.

Fun fact, it didn't happen in 2021.2.7f1 (Silicon) but it happens in the Intel version.

New fun fact, there's no new Silicon version and Gamma still gives issues in 2021.2.10f1 :D The Linear thing is required for now :/

Switching colorspace to gamma is ridiculous and is not a "fix" for this obvious bug. :(

This is happening to me as well. I'm on Windows 11, Unity 2021.3.5f1

    EDIT: This worked for me

To prevent scene or game view from flickering go to:

Edit → Project Settings → Player → Other Settings → In the rendering section change Color Space from Gamma to → Linear

    Problem:
I was also facing the same problem of screen flickering, whenever I used to move my mouse cursor in the scene view, my scene view panel use to flicker.

    Solution:
My problem got resolved just by disabling HDR option in inspector tab of main camera.

I got this too now in version Unity 2022.2.7f1 on Linux (NixOS). I reverted to 2022.2.3f1 (for no particular reason that specific version, just went a few versions back) and then I don't get the flickering.

Same here with Linux Mint 20.3. Unity 2022.2.6f1 and 2022.2.7f1 both had a flicker on the Scene view. It was diagonally split from the bottom left to top right. Only the top left half was flickering. The Linear -> Gamma suggestion above made no difference. I've just tried going back to 2022.2.4f1 and that is working without flicker.

[UPDATE] the flickering has started again on 4f1.

[UPDATE 2] I can confirm that 2022.2.3f1 is OK and the flicker doesn't occur. The bug must have been introduced in 2022.2.4f1.

I by now tested all versions from 2022.2.3 to 2022.2.7 and I lucked out, because 2022.2.3 is the latest one that doesn't have the problem for me, so I accidentally went back exactly the right number of version for me.

Linear to gamma also did not work for me.

What improved it for me was was in the scene view at the top options disabling "Skybox" and "Post Processing".
    upload_2023-2-22_14-34-53.png
However, it was still visible on top of the objects in the scene, just not the background any more. So not really much help, but might hint at what is actually broken.

I also have this exact issue running Ubuntu 22.10, and rolling back to 2022.2.3f1 did indeed help. I can also confirm that this bug persist from 2022.2.4f1 onward. I've even tried beta and alpha versions of Unity 2023, but it was to no avail.

Just updated to 2022.2.13 and the problem persists.
Only workaround that worked for me is disabling the skybox and pros processing.

edit: btw, I'm using Manjaro 6.1.21-1

for me, this is the flicker as shown in the video the filker only happens with scene lighting on and as I move my cursors from scene window to another window (basically whenever the scene window refreshes), only on my office laptop's Asus G17 2021 with GTX 1650 tried both Windows 10 and 11, and not just me but all employees are having the same issue with the same laptop model, running Unity on AMD IGPU have fixed the problem.

    ISSUE RESOLVED FOR ME
I had the same issue, I tried almost all the builds from 2021 and 2022.
At last I had to change my graphics API to 'Vulkan' from 'OpenGLcore'. It worked for me.

    Version of Unity = 2022.2.15f
Linux Distro = Linux Mint Cinnamon
    Processor = Ryzen 5 3500
Graphics Card = GeForce GT 710

Thankyou so much. This was giving me an aneurysm.
Project Settings->Player->Other Settings->Rendering. Uncheck 'Auto Graphics API for Linux', then place Vulkan above OpenGLCore in the list. Required a restart and no more flicker.

    Can confirm!

Updating to 2022.2.19f1 I could go back to using 'OpenGLCore' in place of 'Vulkan' and the flickering is gone.

(Also I had a problem with the Vulkan fix: the editor would crash switching to 3D/2D mode)

    Using Mint 21.1 Cinnamon.

Still happening in Unity 2022.3.4f, it started happening from nowhere, I have just started a new project and the flickering of the scene view started.

Changing the color space to Linear Rendering fixed the issue.

    Win 11

    GTX 1650

Same issue (a gray triangle flickers across half of the screen diagonally) on version 2023.1.0 with OpenGL enabled. Can be fixed by switching to Vulkan API in Player settings. Cannot be fixed by switching color space (still bugs with both Linear and Gamma)

My issue was fixed by going to: Nvidia Control Panel => Manage Display Mode, And change it to Nvidia GPU Only or Automatic.

I found another weird solution. Go to NVIDIA Control Panel, Manage 3D settings, Find and select Unity 3D and change "Power management mode" to "Prefer maximum performance"
