I have been spending a lot of time making builds lately. I noticed that if the Unity Editor (running on Mac OS) is not in focus, then it goes maybe 10x slower when building. This is especially noticeable when compiling shaders, as the difference is huge. Takes a lot less than a second to compile 16 shaders when in focus, but probably 3-5 seconds when not in focus.

This is a big problem because it means if I want optimal compile time, I cannot do anything else on my computer.

It seems Unity is not the only Mac OS app to suffer from this, as I found a related thread here : https://stackoverflow.com/questions...tion-slows-down-when-its-window-has-not-focus

Can I get a Unity dev to chime in on this please? It would be a massive help. I have to constantly leave builds running for an extremely long time (easily over 8 hours, even up to 12 or more hours frequently) because I need to get other work done at the same time on the computer.
