Hi there. So I was trying to refactor an old project as a template for future ones. I noticed something strange that after I compile code in it, the editor becomes unbearable slow. It isn't until I enter play mode that the editor moves at its normal speed again.

For reference, I'm using Unity Version 2020.3.25f1 and Microsoft Visual Studio 2022.

What does "slow" mean exactly? Framerate? UI responsiveness?

Have you checked Task Manager to see the memory usage? Perhaps some editor script is allocating so much memory it leads to disk swapping (use of virtual memory).

Have you tried 2021.3 or 2022.3?

Moving around in the scene is slow as well as ui responsiveness.

I did copy the original project and upgraded the copied version and the problem still persist. However, I haven't tried to see if any editor scripts are causing it. I'll need to investigate them as well as looking at task manager.
