Editor 2017.1 doesn't start scene or crashes

    Hey,

    I've updated our project from 5.6.2f1 to 2017.1f3 and several things happen:

    - When i press play, Unity seems to hang, the play button looks pressed (even so it isn't "blue" and so the game isn't running) and I have to kill it.

    - When I change to C# 4.6 I can press play and the game starts but the editor crashes during load.

    Now the editor log files don't print anything so how am I supposed to get some information about the crashes?

    Unfortunately I can't upload the project for legal reasons.

    By the way, I can also start an empty scene within our project and the editor hangs.

    Starting in an empty project works.

    It looks like Unity isn't very interessted in having a great start with the 2017 version.

    Let me bump this.

    Same thing happens with me. Is this resolved for you? Even an empty scene in my imported project will crash on play. New projects are fine.

    Running MacOS 10.12.5 and Unity 2017.1.0f3

    I haven't tried any further yet, but I've read the release notes for the 2017.1 patches and some fixes regarding the editor have already been made. So maybe that problem has already been fixed.

    The latest patch release doesn't seem to resolve this problem. Does anyone have similar issues? The Editor log doesn't say a single thing, everything just hangs when trying to run anything (even a new empty scene) in my imported project. Not sure how to send a useful bug report as I cannot send my entire project through.

    We're having similar issues. Since upgrading to 2017.1, we're experiencing crashes, only sometimes, when pressing play while the game begins to start in editor. About once per half hour, the entire editor just exits out completely, no error message.

    Ok, I have a completely empty project which only holds the dll files (third party plugins) of our main project and I've noticed that the editor gets stuck starting play mode as long as Prime31MenuItem.dll is imported.

    Now that library is a very old version and I'll try it with an updated version now.

    Yep, updating the library works.
