    Fated Kingdom
    is a digital board game for 4 people set in a dark fantasy that puts a player in the tabletop sandbox. To survive in a grim world and save the kingdom of Kinmar, party members have to throw dices, draw cards from the decks and move the character tokens on the board.

    About the Game

    Starting the development, we set ourselves the goal of reproducing to the players the pleasure spent at a real gaming table with a colorful board, decks of cards, dices and character tokens. To do this, we have realized all the main advantages of tabletop games, the most important of which we consider complete freedom of action. The party takes place in real time, and all the actions of its members are done by themselves.

    Unlike many other digital board games, Fated Kingdom does not control the execution of rules on the software side. They are clearly spelled out in a rulebook that is available in the game menu. As in real life, players themselves must look for the implementation of the rules. If desired and mutual consent, the rules can be changed, reduced or supplemented. And, of course, you can cheat at the table. The main thing is that opponents do not notice this!

    Game Features
    • Classic tabletop experience in digital form
    • 4 player co-op
    • Dynamic game board with squares generation
    • Sandbox with no forced rules
    • Realistic physics
    • Dark and cruel fantasy world

    The game takes place in a gloomy medieval world with fantasy elements. The Kingdom of Kinmarr was filled with monsters, undead and looters. The folk leave the fields, which have not yielded a crop for a long time, and the whole royal army went to war and did not return. It seems that Fate itself wants the country to plunge into the abyss of chaos and despair.

    To counter the numerous misfortunes and regain control of the country, the king calls for the help of his most faithful servants and creates 4 guilds: Feudal Pact, Arcane Commune, Pathfinders and Heirs of Kinmarr. Each guild receives full freedom of action and a clearly stipulated contract: destroy everything that harms the crown.

    At the beginning of the game, 10 years have already passed, and during this time the guilds have not succeeded in their mission. The Kingdom shrank to the capital, several large cities and war-ravaged lands in their environs. There is no clear plot line in the game, but on the cards you can find brief notes on which to learn about the world and the creatures inhabiting it.

    Have you guys thought of prototyping in Tabletop Simulator (through Steam)? It allows you to build tabletop games without having to code multiplayer interactions or any of the physics of the cards.

    BTW great work so far; love the aesthetic of the game – the music adds a lot.

    @evamariah We are familiar with the capabilities of Tabletop Simulator, but for the prototyping we used the traditional way - paper. And thanks for the kind words!

    @knobblez Thanks for the feedback! That video was made a long time ago, when we are not yet fully determined with the setting. At the moment we are focused on gothic and dark fantasy.

    Okay, I'm going to make a suggestion here. Have you considered creating a mobile app to pair up with this game? Specifically, a mobile app that would allow players to connect to the game, and keep the cards that they have in their own hand secret from the rest of the players? Also, such an app would give the players a chance to peruse and read their own cards a little more up-close. While your game is looking really good, one of the complaints that comes to mind is that the text for the cards is a little small, and would probably be difficult to read if the player wasn't that close to the screen. Being able to read the cards easily seems important.

    @RichardKain In order to keep their skill cards and defeated creatures in secret from other players, the player uses the hand zone. When you put a card in it disappears for other players, they can not read it.

    Yes, we also think that it is not very convenient to read cards. We will increase the font on the cards in the future. Thanks for the feedback!

    Fated Kingdom launched on Steam Early Access

    First of all, here is a bit of the description from the Steam page:

    Fated Kingdom is a digital board game for 4 people set in a dark fantasy that puts a player in the tabletop sandbox. To survive in a grim world and save the kingdom of Kinmarr, party members have to throw dices, draw cards from the decks and move the character tokens on the board.

    Game Features:

    1. Classic tabletop experience in digital form;
    2. 4 player co-op;
    3. Sandbox with no forced rules;
    4. Realistic physics;
    5. Dark and cruel fantasy world.
    The idea of the game is to transfer all the coolest features of real tabletop games without total scripting of all objects and, more importantly, rules. The game does not control the execution of rules in any way, and moreover does not restrict players in manipulating objects. Of course, some moments of the game are still scripted. For example, the mixing of decks passes automatically.

    Similarly, with the basic features like the choice of color at the start and the counter of victory points (sphere in the center). We also decided to take advantage of the "numbers" and made a random arrangement of the board squares and the "hand" in which the player keeps a card of abilities and defeated creatures.

    For early access to Fated Kingdom, we chose a policy of small, but frequent updates. All of them are divided into two categories - small and large. The first go out every 2 weeks and include 2 new cards, the necessary balance adjustments and bug fixes. Thus, for the year that we plan to stay in Early Access, almost 100 new cards will appear in the game.

    How to "finish off" the rest? The big updates! Each one complements the game world and tells a small story. For example, one of the first updates, called All the King's Men, is dedicated to the return of the royal army to Kinmarr. Of course, in the form of a horde of dead, because the last war was lost.

    History is given through an flavor text on cards, of which there will be 10 pieces for each big update. All of them are not only similar in spirit, but also in game mechanics. Each major update should make the gameplay more diverse by adding new elements to the basic rules system. The second task of such patches - the introduction of new features.

    It can be a gallery where you can quickly find any card and read explanations on its work, and a glossary of game terms, and improvement of the graphic part - new models, textures and effects. There are many ideas, but it is necessary to implement them consistently. Especially while in the team only 2 people, and each has also the main job.

    We are sure that hard work and careful attention to feedback will help us make a worthy game. For us, this is also important because we ourselves want to play it, see it as positive changes, and also be part of a friendly community.

    We will be happy to receive feedback of any kind - suggestions, criticism, advice and just feedback.
