Question Driving component variables from DCC animations

    I would like to drive variables in a component using an animation made in Maya. Is there currently a process in place to do this?

    I haven't found any methods spoken of except things that are built-in such as mesh visibility.

    My use case:
    I author my fps arm animations in Maya and export to Unity using FBX.

    In Unity I have the arms model setup with Unity's Animation Rigging IK to attach the animated arms to the weapon for handling procedural recoil and other script controlled movements.

    I would like to be able to control the weight variables of any given IK setup so I can change the IK target, as well as any other c# variable from the animation curves coming in from the FBX.

    I assume there is some method being used for this currently, but I haven't come across anyone mentioning their approach or any Unity supported methods.

    Direction on current or past processes to achieve this would be wonderful!
