    Hi,

So, I've been making a dragon TPP action game for some time. It's for PC, Mac and Linux. It supports normal displays, Oculus Rift and 3D stereo SBS TVs. Pictures and videos will describe it better:

It also works with Oculus Rift DK2:

    What do you think?

    Hey Kubold!

    Another nice looking project :)
What's up with the other one, Dragon, Trolls and Aliens?

I loved the combat and AI in that one.

It's still on, but this one is on my harddrive for 2 years now and I'm not sure what to do with it :). Just let it rot until it dies, or release it or... I really don't know. But for now I'm making Aliens, Trolls and Dragons.

    Thanks,

actually, as I expected, people hate/don't understand the steering mechanics :) It has a steep learning curve unfortunately and the camera is not really rock solid. I released it anyway, better like that than never.

    Btw. control tutorial video:

Yes, I needed to make a video to explain how to steer the dragon, it's that hard. :D

So... doesn't that mean the game... isn't good?

It can mean that the steering is bad, yes. But I like it, so it can mean that it needs a good tutorial.

It could also mean that I got so used to it, that I like it, like smokers like cigars. You know - they taste awful, but if you get used to it, you love that awfulness.

Anyway, I'm not charging anything for it, so this would be great moment to get feedback. If 500 people will universally hate it after playing for more than 15 minutes then its bad. But if 10 of them will like it, then it's just "not for everyone" ;)

I just tried it out and I like it. The control aren't actually that bad, they actually make more sense than the preferred controls. It would be fun for there to be animals (ex. sheep) that you can eat/kill in addition to the humans. Overall, great progress. Maybe people will understand the "buggy" controls if it is renamed to "Dragon Simulator" ;)

I made a different camera mechanics. It should be easier now.

    Download: Version 0.09

A simulator... well, calling this a simulator would be like calling mario a parkour game :D I mean, yes, the physics of the flight are simulated (drag, velocities etc. - all Physics), but the rest is quite unrealistic.

I tried your game, Kubold. This is my first impression:
    • Mouse can be used to select options from the main menu, but is not visible
    • Coming to a complete halt from crashing into treetops is a bit annoying. Maybe lower the height of colliders on trees?
    • I like the animations of the dragon, and the transitions between animations.
    • Sometimes the camera "jumps" around a bit for no apparent reason, especially immediately after taking off or landing, which is a bit jarring.
    • Maybe have the flame cursor show how much flame the dragon has left? Like... as you breathe fire, the fire effect around the cursor gradually goes away, and comes back when flame is returning. Alternatively, some other means of showing the status of the flames.
    • I would also like the possibility to grab and hold (and eat) a human without having to land first. Like a fly-by grab :D
    • I have been gaming for 30 years  and I had little trouble with the controls.
    • Good job so far!

Kubold - Nice job - overall I like the game quite a bit -:)

Graphics and animation are really good...
The controls could possibly use some changes - not sure how to improve

I happen to have my own Dragon project that has been lying around for some time gathering dust. You have motivated me enough to maybe dig it up and post it....
perhaps we could combine them and make something awesome :)

Deleted some rubbish and trolling. Keep threads clean. Handing out infractions like candy at the moment, don't encourage me.

Thank you very much. I chose not to feed the troll, so I just didn't answer him at all when he started.
