If you really want to learn, forget the game kit. Follow tutorials from YouTube and learn that way. There are way more types of games you can make and you can learn so much more as well. Here are some of my favorite channels that have great content:

    Brackeys
    Sebastian Lague
    Jason Weimann
    Blackthornprod
    Code Monkey

If you use the Game Kit, sure you can make a very cookie cutter platformer game, but you arent going to learn how everything goes together. How to write the scripts, how to organize and set up the gameobjects, etc. is crucial and you will have to relearn these steps when you go to make your own game after following the game kit. Just my opinion.

Agree. Unity's example code packages are without exception EXTREMELY fragile, often working only on the single one version of the editor that they released it on. It's unfortunate but I've never seen a demo that "just works."

On the other hand, adding to the list of great creators Corny lists above, try this guy out:

Oh, thanks for the info. and definitely take a look at those, my next question is should I go through the Junior programmer pathway or there is a better source for that, PS: I don't have coding experience.

    Thanks.

No idea, never done it. I'm telling you what I would choose: free, open, simple, straightforward. Every minute you delay jumping into tutorials is another minute longer before you get proficient.

mapper, I had 0 code knowledge and 0 Unity knowledge 4.5 years ago. Now i make VR/AR applications for my job and work on my own game in my spare time. It immediately changed my career path from sales to programming and development. 100% would do it again. All i did was follow YouTube tutorials for free, but did so consistently (30 mins to an hour every evening after work) over a long period of time. I still work about an hour each evening on my game after my 8-5 job.

Poster child for the concept of daily prep.

Do something ... anything... towards your learning every day.

Some days will be amazing, some days will be infuriating, but you just never stop doing it.

Totally agreed, just feel overwhelmed by how many things I don't know and need to know.

One step at a time. You can't eat an entire pizza in one bite. You probably can't even eat a single slice in one bite. Slow and steady

Agreed, yes, subscribe to those recommended YT channels. All are pretty good. I need a better-structured course. I finished the introduction of Visual scripting on Unity learn; it is a great course, now, start the Junior programmer pathways and see.
