    Not as far as you might think... one of the problems is Unity's failure to even consider moving to Metal 3, which has, amongst many others improvements, the mesh handling (and then some) the above post is discussing, done in a very Apple-ish manner.

    Metal 3 adoption by Unity's Editor and Builds would be transformative. It's a big step on.

    Three years on from when we received apple silicon devkits from Apple, we haven't got stable AS editor builds and Unity Hub is still Intel only. So I won't hold my breath on this one :)
