    Dear all,

We have been brainstorming with my team last week, and as game developers in the past, we imagined it might be useful to have a tool to create simple 3D files that would enable testing and buildind the game - before more sophisticated 3D designs come to finalize the game.

Do you see what I mean ? Does any of you encountered similar problems ?

ps : to give more info about us, we work now in the 3D field (printing and virtual reality), and are eager to understand how we could help game designers.

Thank you very much for your help,
any reply and advice will be welcome,
    Jean-Marie

Are you talking about whiteboxing assets? Kinda confused what you're really asking Jean-Marie :)

    Thank you for your return.
I am not sure about the definition of white boxing assets.

We would like to validate two assumptions:
-Some game developpers may have difficulties creating 3D content for their games. And even if a 3D designer is working on the game, the developper needs simple 3D shapes to start programming the game, before incorporating more sophisticated designs.
-In some of their games, developpers would like to invite users to create content, but it is difficult because there are no simple and fun tools to do that "in game".

Is that clearer presented this way ?
    THANKS

My assumption is designers don't have difficulties creating simple 3D "place holder" content for there games when designing/prototyping.
The difficulty comes in when design/prototyping is done, and finished assets are desired to replace the placeholder art.

This is where a programmer/designer would need artists to step in and assist - for finished asset creation, not placeholder assets.

We have used whiteboxing, and greyboxing. Same thing, just different shade. :)

Thank you theANMATOR2b for your answer. It helps.

We still explore the possibilities to build simple game mods with our tool ; other usage could be in User Generated Content games such as Second Life.

Thanks again for the help: it is key for us as our innovation may match with a sector we are totally familiar with.
