I just upgraded to unity 4 pro a few weeks ago to gain access to:

    -Plugin support (syphon specifically).

-Cubemapping, nicer looking reflective materials, etc...

Am I to understand these things are freely available in the free version of Unity 5? The language I've read doesn't seem to list any graphic limitations to the new free version.

That's correct, those are now available in Unity 5 Personal edition. Please see the FAQ for further info.

Still trying to 100% verify this myself; but I believe the answer is that you don't need Pro for these.

You need Pro if you make more than 100k in a year, want the dark skin, get rid of the splash screen, and some other nonsense that I don't really know what it even is (they did a really bad job explaining what these things are in the preso this morning IMO).

Also unclear is what is the pro/free split on mobile? I have a Desktop Pro license.. so if I deploy to iOS in the past I would be limited to "free" features .. I assume thats the case now? Totally clear as mud right now.

You can see the full comparison here.

The pro/free split is effectively the same on mobile - if you don't have a Professional license for your mobile platform, you get access to all engine features, but you don't get to customize/remove the splash screen.

If you deploy to iOS/Android without the respective Pro license, you will have a splash screen. That's it.

    Thanks for the replies.

I guess the ambiguity for me is in "Enging with all features".

I guess we are to assume that means ALL.

I do not make 100k a year. The 75 dollars a month I'm spending now on a pro license may be better spent in the asset store to improve my projects. Would unity hear a case to reverse my pro membership once I upgrade to 5?

Absolutely. Head to the FAQ for the details of how to proceed with that.
