My objective is to develop an AR app on Android where a user directs his phone's camera to an outdoor building (say a museum) and information is displayed about the building on the user's screen. The user could use his phone on many buildings and different information is displayed each time depending on the building that the phone's camera is looking at.

I was thinking of using image tracking but tracking does not work well in outdoor conditions due to different lighting resulting in shadows. I have tried with a large number of reference images (80+) on a single building and tracking is still poor.

I did check object tracking but only ARKit supports it and it doesn't seem to be feasible for large outdoor objects either.

I am not sure what I can use to create such an application, does anyone have a clue?
