Disabling on soft or touch keyboard for Unity UI input

Is there an easy way to do this? I've tried out a few things so far to no avail. A technique such as the one described here: http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/disable-android-keyboard.409192/#post-2665642 does not work.

It would be nice to disable it. Otherwise it's a bit annoying to deal with such a thing in VR -- I don't want the android soft keyboard dominating the screen when a user activates a Unity UI input field element.
