Directional light position in the scene?

Are there any implications with the position of a directional light in the scene? For the ease of some calculations related to stars in my game, the primary directional lights in my scene are way off the origin. I'm not visually seeing any artifacts but I'm curious if there's any hidden effects.

I'm assuming not but wouldn't mind an expert opinion.

    Thanks!

Mmm... never digged on this and I'm curious too.
In my experience I agree with you and I'd say that the position doesn't matter at all. I usually place it where it doesn't bother me (damn gizmos! :p)

The positions of the directional lights are not used for any lighting-related calculations, so you can place them wherever you want.
