Hello Is anybody using Digimi Game Developer Kit for DAZ Studio ? It supplies 1)Decimator : a polys count reducer for DAZ studio 2)Texture atlas : It converts all the textures in a format suitable for game engines 3) FBX exporter The decimator should be, in theory , much more efficient than equivalent tools, being taylor made for DAZ models DAZ is, as far as I know, a user friendly animator tool Moreover Carrara 8.0 Pro can now export FBX file It can be of use to tweak models and animation DAZ models can now be used for commercial project thus all the models supplied by DAZ and Radiosity are now available even for commercial games In conclusion , DAZ seem to offer a great suite for game develpers : DAZ + Digimi + Carrara 8.0 Pro + Poser 8.0 + a library with hundreds models Prices are super competitive Did anybody give it a try ?
I've been hearing more and more about DAZ, and it looks to be completely free, yes? While I'm used to Blender, I might start using DAZ just for the decimator. I'll base the real verdict on how easy it is to animate characters, and how quickly the pipeline to Unity works. Unity will automatically update any FBX file from any program, right?
DAZ basic version is free, the advanced version costs 150 usd Never used DAZ but I am using Poser which should be rather similar In my opinion Poser is the most user friendly animator around Moreover DAZ support pupeeter As far as I can understand from the demos ,it is really a great tool My main concern is also the FBX pipeline I came across too many bugs in the past However a member here in this forum claimed that the new Carrara 8.0 Pro FBX exporter is reliable with Unity3d so also DAZ should be
Well finally I purchased digimi I must say I am quite happy, at least at the beginning Apparentely it seems that it is not that popular Strange For those who want to focus on programming without spending a fortune . it seems to be a fantastic tool
I really dont want to shell out the $$ for their set, but it does look promising -- PLEASE let us know how well the DAZ based content works after being decimated and exported into Unity. If it turns out that the tool works well I'll probably grab it THANKS! AF
A MAC version of the Decimator is now available. In addition, a new feature was added to the decimator that allows the user to specify relative decimation based on individual surfaces. That means that you can allocate more of your poly budget to the face or head and less to the torso or limbs. This is shaping up to be a very powerful tool.
fantastic , this is what I was waiting for To answer to afaik I decimated a Victoria model up to 8000 tris I made it in two steps head and body then I merged the two parts in fragmotion Now with the new release it is not necessary to do it any more The result was quite good both for the skeleton and the texture no problem to import it into Unity I remain of the opinion that this is great tool for those who want to focus on programming
