I didn't know where to put this question...

Does anyone know what's the difference between the 2 search options of these forums - Search Forums and Search Everything ?

Both seem to offer the same set of search criteria...

    I dont think that's true.

    Go to this URL: http://forum.unity3d.com/search/

And see for yourself. In "Everything" you can only limit the search to forums. There's another search on the Unity site that allows searching in forums or everything else, but this is not the one.

I find it kind of confusing as I have no idea what this search does...

Ah, I thought you were referring to the search box at the top of the site, which searches docs, forums and answers :)

The one you're using isn't very good either. Simple keywords that should find lots of posts find nothing, while the site-global search does.

There's a feature on XenForo (our forum software) that allows you to post to users profile, a bit like a Facebook wall, we have this disabled. I'm assuming the "Search Everything" includes profile posts which is why the option is still there.
