    Well I'll be damned....

Apparently it isn't even new, since after trying it in 2020.x I also notice it works in my 2018.2.21 project.

I think I used this back in 4.x too. I think it's just a native feature of the UI. You can also type infinity into some number fields, as well as a couple other terms.

I had no idea unity supported expressions in the editor
A youtube page called code monkey has been posting one minute tips similar to the above. A few of those I did not know about either.

Huh. I knew you could do this in blender but never occurred to me to try it in unity. Neat!

Using for some time now, don't remember my thirst time thou - must have been drunk ;)

It would be cool if they made utility (runtime) out of this functionality. So we could create runtime math equations.

I have used it since I started using Unity. But it would be ever cooler. If it kept the expression and didnt execute it.

so if I enter 1/2 it stays and translates behind the scene to 0.5

There are many possibilities in the unity that there is no place for education for the public
For example, holding the v key causes objects to snap to each vertex as they move
Or by holding down alt, you can completely open or close a list childs

I have been suffering from these issues for a long time
Or, for example, buying a gaming mouse will not let you get bored while working with Unity ... especially when making the terrain
