So i was about to export my game to ios, for the first time, and i saved it in the "assets" folder. Without making a backup it deleted everything i had in the assetfolder. So now i have to start all over again. :(

    But..
It seems like i still have my scripts.. But it looks like they are in a other format or something, and i cant open them in monodevelop. Do anyone know a way i can open these scripts? Look at the attached file

And i just taught myself a lesson..

Are your assets gone from the project folder in your filesystem or are they just not showing up in the inspector?

Hint: NEVER EVER EVER create builds inside of you Project/Asset folder! Either create a directory at the main project folder for builds or someplace of your liking.
Plus always do a backup just for safe keeping.
    Good Luck.

If you actually try to reproduce the situation OP describes, you'll notice that all files in the Assets folder will be deleted including any scenes. In fact in Unity 4.5.2 a popup warns about exactly that when you try building into the Assets folder. Scenes cannot be saved outside the Assets folder and OP did not make backups. Also, loading a backup scene file does not recover the deleted Assets.

    What OP can try:
    - undelete (files are probably overwritten though)
    - loading any generated DLLs in a decompiler like ILspy to get some scripts back (great tool to inspect IL to find allocations)
    - some kind of Unity or iPhone app extractor tool?

It's funny that Unity forces you to save scenes in the Assets folder, but does not stop you from building into the Assets folder other than showing a warning. Since the OK button is highlighted it takes a mere accidental push of a key or mouse button to destroy your project. Then again, pretty foolish not to have backups and attempting to save into the Assets folder to begin with.

I often make builds in the project folder (not IOS though). Good thing to know! Good job you fixed it.

Once I deleted a project many years ago. So I went out to get drunk. But the bouncers wouldn't let me in. Good thing too.

No lesson to be learnt here. It's a stupid thing to do, like for real you thought it was a good idea to build into the Assets folder?!?!

And even if it deleted your project then you should just be able to grab the latest version from your backup system.

No idea why backing up isn't something everyone does.

Well, this is my weekly reminder to create a backup of my project file!
