    Textures are lo res, and it looks like you are using the default unity grass and trees?

    Also, the bright green grass doesn't fit into the grey brown ground.

    If it's for mobile then it's OK. Nothing wrong with Unity's grass and trees, use them if you like.

    The lighting does look more off than it should because of the contrast between the grass and the trees.

    When I saw the first picture, I thought, "Wait, isn't that a scene from Alan Wake?" After a second, I realized it wasn't... But good job on it! It clearly looks professional. :)

    Some of the things (rock, handrail) look a little naff up close, but everything looks great to me other than that.

    Looks like it. But he ought to mind the licenses if he wants to release commerically.

    Other than that, it looks great.

    Is there a different license for Bootcamp than the regular example projects license?

    I might make a Web Player but I haven't learnt the Dropbox thing yet. FYI this map will be quite large. Ill do a Web Player or free download on part one area.

    hi there,
    you should definitely lightmap the whole scene, lower the saturation of grass and go for a better (high res) rock texture.
    i also would add fog and raise the ambient light: have a look at your tree’s bark: it is nearly black.
    also go with a more atmospheric lighting: may be some yellowish directional light and purple or slighly blue ambient light.

    may be you would like to have have a look here to get some inspiration on lighting, effects etc.: http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/122146-After-(Fantasy-world-2)
    well, he uses pro but after all, there is still a lot to learn from.

    anyway: a pretty nice start.

    Yeah, I agree. Some of the textures and lighting are a bit off.

    I would just add that the lack of an ambient occlusion pass and shadows really kinda hurts it...would help greatly to have those two things going. I would second the textures looking blurry or greasy in areas...maybe just filtering or they are too low res. Anyways, other the issues, keep at it and keep up the good work.

    just some words about grass:
    from the screenshoots i can not say whether you use billboards or not – if so i would suggest to skip that and uncheck "billborded" in the grass setup window.
    but what i can say from the screenshoot is that grass looks pretty dense which might be a huge performance hit due to the high number of drawcalls and the vast amount of overdraw. in order to keep the number of draw calls low use a low resolution detail map (terrain --> set resolution) i think that an accuracy of +-1m or even +-2m should be ok which would lead to:
    terrain 500m * 500m --> detail map resolution: 512px = +-1m accuracy
    terrain 1000m * 1000m --> detail map resolution: 512px = +-2m accuracy

    working with low resolution detail maps really easily lowers the number of draw calls by up to 200.

    Doesn't that also reduce the quality of the terrain?

    less accuracy doesn’t mean less quailty.

    What's the point of the map accuracy, then? I thought it had to do with the quality of terrain: i.e more accuracy = potentially better quality.

    hmm, are you kidding me?
    of course more accuracy gives you more potential on sculpting and decorating your terrain, but you will always have to find the right balance between ehat you might need and what this would cost. accuracy on grass or any other detail meshes is very expensive. you might better go with some exactly placed single game objects instead of drawing grass with a precision of +-0.25m as far as draw calls are concerned (in unity free this is of course limited to very low poly plants = game objects (about 300 vertices i guess) due to the fact that you can only use dynamic batching).

    I like the potential, everyone starts somewhere, these may look A-AA now but I feel with more months of work he can be AA-AAA, that is why I asked him to join for such a large project, plenty of practice and honing his skills.

    I am not even going to waste my time...........

    I ripped you off? Lol. How? Did you pay me? Did you give me anything? No. Not even close to being ripped off. Explain to everyone how I am a scam, you were the one who wanted into my dropbox. But anyways, back on topic. Nice terrains.

    Wow I just came into this thread to see what kind of updates were going on with the terrain. What's going on with the back and forth? Someone upset about Dropbox? You usually put Webplayers in the Public folder so you can share them with the world, the Public folder is accessible by anyone at any time. I can be rifling through your Dropbox right now lol. So no need to get all in a tizzy with that. ;) take it easy folks.
