    Hi all. Here i present an awesome demon, i realized it with J.R.R. Tolkien's Balrog's description in mind. It is 11,9 K tris and his whips are 0,25 K tris each. It comes with none the less than 54 animations ( grounded, in air + whip ) and 2 skins : 2 x 2048x2048 maps ( body + wings, diffuse and normals), its lair, one rock ( + lod ) and a 512x512 lava rock texture. The package is available at 30 dollars.
    There are two whips : one for whip attack and another one when it's unused (rolled around its neck). i'll give the frame and average timing to activate or not each game object individually. User'll have to switch from one whip to another when getting the whip or putting in back. Of course you can wipe out the whips since there are separate game objects.
    Hope those who vote for the demon in my " GOSSIP" poll will be glad.

    I didn't know Trolls believed in Christ. Must have been converted during the Leprechaun Crusades in the early 3rd century.

    The model looks good. You could give him dual maces, each with a human head as the head of the mace. But I'm most likely not a potential customer, so listen to the paying customers first.

    yes breath attack was already thought about. Not a dirty mouth but you know a hellish breath that give you goose bump

    Attack using his fingers like knife, and jump on the player, fly around and go somewhere else. Cans send spell maybe?

    bump : hi all, here it's really hard for me to get concentrated and focus on any task ... i think i'm in love ( very bad desease ... ). But i managed to create only 14 anims for the moment ... hope i'll stick to what i announced earlier. So the demon will be able to send spells ( x4 ) he has a " finger knife" 3 hit combo, a "head horn butt", a jump attack, a hellish breath attack, and a breacker defense ( or may be used as a frightening anim, player are stick and can't move ...). I'll make him fly as soon as possible. According to what i want and the result of the poll i'll create a small add on : a hellish whip ( lava one ) with specific anims. It'll be available at 5 dollars. I've updated the first post to give you a quick overview of the already created anims.

    you could alway use the claws to claw or rip, theres a few similar animations you could do for that

    hi there, i managed to create the 30 anims.... The first post has beeb updated so that you can have a look. But here i have a problem : among those 30 anims there are no impact and death. The big question is do i reduce some of his grounded attack anims so that i can produce one impact anim and 2 deaths ( grounded and aerial ) or should i just set a ragdoll for all death and create just one impact anim ??? Another possible thing : i could produce an add-on available at 5 dollars with impact in 6 directions ( grouded and aerial) and 2 deaths ( grounded and aerial ) means 14 anims in this pack. Thanks for your advices and comment ...

    well; here i'm currently animating the demon's whip, it's nearly finished, i have to do 2 animations more with the whip. Then i'll create the impact and death anim. I'll update the first post with a quick rendering of those animations. A web player will be done last. But here it'll be possible for me to trigger only 3 or 4 anims as i'm not a programmer.
    15 whip anims : get whip, put back whip, whip attack 1, 3 hit combo whip attack, 9 hit combo whip attack, walking whip attack, groudedWhipIdle, impact x 6 directions, grouded whip death, grouded whip dead idle. Maybe i'll create a walking 3 and 9 hit combo whip attack ...

    hi there, i've updated the first post with a quick rendering of my demon's whip attack. Just have a look. There are some details to polish. Tomorrow i'll create impact and death anims, then the maps. Hope potentials customers will enjoy this asset. I'll resell it at 30 dollars since i want to include all anims and the whip in one package.

    hi one thing i noticed is the wings seem to stay rigid with all animations the wings should move and be slightly flexible so when the shoulders lunge forwards the wings wont move exactly the same, it sort of seem like the wings are stuck on as such, still eagerly watching the progress on this :)

    The animations are pretty very stiff and don't always loop properly. Also the timing on almost all of them is way to fast.

    Very solid work for a first pass but need some more clean up in the timing and curves.

    Just my 2-cents.

    yes for sure, but i animated them a little bit ... in the grounded with no whip anims maybe i should "exagerate" these moves a little bit. But as you say there is still some work on it to polish ... the head and the whip too ... But here i was testing my kinect for motion capture and it works well !!! i'm really glad. I think tomorrow i'll have finished with all demon's anims ( i hope ). Thanks for your comment

    @Mixamo : about loops : i always put 5 frames to separate all my animations on my timeline, that's why you see a "stop" or strange transitions between animations. What is to stiff for you ?? the whip ? or the full body ??

    As for loops that makes sence.

    The fullbody is stiff. Also the wings have no secondary motion and follow-through while the demon is attacking or swinging its arms. The are just still. Also it moves so quick I have trouble believe it is a large heavy demon.

    @Mixamo : Well to my mind the full body is not so stiff ...about the wings, as i answered ealier, this is still a work in progress and indeed at this time they were not animated, but here it's now done. i've updated the first post with what i've done so far. About timing, i want this creature to be fast and not so huge as you may expect it to ... It would be about 3 m height. Big creature indeed but not huge, the gargoyle from killer instinct 2 inspired me and it was about his height and a little bit faster ... But yes i know what you mean with timing : it would have been more impressive once bigger and slower. Here i follow my choice as i don't believe this demon to be a big boss ...

    Big doesn't equal slow, I'm simply pointing out the quality of the animations. Even small creatures have moments where they slow down for ease in and ease out. I also still see his spine is very stiff and his center of balance looks off when he walks and attacks. The wings look better but the timing is still off. Everything is way to quick. Also 3m is pretty big. Nine feet is huge for anything walking on two legs.

    I'm just offering some critique to help you make better more fluid animations. Good luck!

    bump ! hi there, here i just finished all 51 animations for this demon. I've updated the first post with a new video. Tomorrow it'll be time to texture it.
    @mixamo : thanks for your help. when you walk or run your center of balance is always off, that why there is movement. when we walk we always use or muscles to avoid falling because we translating our center of gravity. Even when we stand up we need to use our muscle otherwise we would only lay on the floor. But maybe i didn't understand :" center of balance looks off "

    bump : the demon is nearly finished and will soonly be submitted to the asset store. I've updated the first post with new renders and a head screenshot from unity's editor. I'm really satisfied with the result within unity this time. This wasn't the case with the mountain dragon ... Hope you'll like it as i decided to stick to J.R.R. Tolkien description of the fire demon : Balrog.

    bump : demon is now finished !!! It'll be submitted tomorrow ... now it's time to sleep ... i've updated the first post with a web player link. As i'm not a coder it's a little bit "buggy" but you'll have a good overview of what will be available in the package. here only 4 animations are triggered : grounded idle normal / walk normal / run / jump. Hope this feature will fit to those who vote for it in my gossip poll.

    @Zerano : well, i'd like to handle all my animations and resell a ready to use model. But i'm not a coder. Maybe i'll re use, for my demo scene web player the AI scripts from the Slava " unity shooter engine ", it can handle many grounded attack anims. But A simple web player with buttons is quite good. The main problem being the fact that for the demon i need 54 buttons !!! ( where to place them all !! ??? lol )

    I think this is a good project for you to learn from but its not good enough at 30 dollars. Consider selling it for 10 dollars and get to work on your next model which should be better.

    I have sended you the link with the project its very simple i know, but there is a scrollview, so the placement is no problem...and its very easy to show all your animations. There is a public variable where you can put all the animations. The size of the animations does not matter :D

    wow ! that's nice. I tested the web player and it didn't look like that. Sorry. well, i'll have a look. For the next feature i think i'll use this script and only place the model on a piedestal. Thanks a lot for sharing this !

    Sorry, i only stick to the 20/25 dollars price range for a feature with no more than 30 anims, if there is much i raise the price a little bit. I'm sorry you don't like this demon. As i answered another guy on the "lizard warrior" thread, i'll give him another skin. hope once it will be done you'll like it much and find that this feature would worth 30 dollars.

    bump : i nearly finish to do the second skin for the demon. Hope you'll like it more than the fire / lava one. I really want to have a good result for the first skin, so i'll redo it tomorrow and update the asset store with this 2 skins.

    @Moria : thanks ! Glad you like the second skin. I'm currently working on a fire effect to improve the first skin ( lava / fire one ). Here is what it looks like for the moment ( i still have to re create its maps, but here result is quite good with a flame emitter ... )

    bump : i've updated the first post with an inside unity editor video of the first improvment of the fire/ lava skin. I'm not a particles specialist but i'll try to do my best on this first skin. I really want it to be impressive. I think i'll give it a heat/distortion particle emitter to get more realism. Here i need advice/critics from those who have a good experience working with particles...

    Edit : i need to create a smooth mask for the wing's extenal borders but i really don't know where i could find a " particle additive/soft with mask" here i make my texture scroll on the wings but on the borders i need to edit a mask map that wouldn't scroll and smooth with its alpha the edges.

    bump : i've updated the web player with the fire effect ( see first post ), i'm currently re creating the fire/lava skin. Go and have a look ... I used the " stainedBumpDistort"(pro only) to achieve the heat effect. But result is good too without heat. ( just a "pro feature only" )

    interesting.. it seems to make the skin of the wings dissapear on my screen, but that may be the video, .

    I do like this model rosor, I have one reservation.. I really don't like the whip :) Probably just me, but it just doesn't look right somehow.

    Please don't take that the wrong way, as theres no way i could do this, but that's my opinion:)

    @Moria : did you test all and only the whip anims ? Here i only let him the " hell whip action " but during animations that don't use it, it is still animated and not looped ( during the anims that don't use the " action whip" user need to deactivate its renderer). Well, i'm sorry you don't like its whip, according to the poll, people prefer the whip. But you know it's possible to swich them off since they are individual game objects belonging to demon's hierarchy. Thanks for your comment and your interest in my creations Graham.

    The new skin is impressive and acceptable quality. The animations however are still a little stiff on some of them. Overall it has been improved a lot. Best of luck with your product.

    bump : i've updated the first post with some new in game screenshots, in game video ( 2 skins are visible ) and a new quick render of all the 54 animations available using skin 2. The web player has been updated too, go and have a look. This updated package is now pending review by unity ... Hope i'll get some customers now it's been improved.
