I built a Unity file and saved it on a flash drive before performing a Factory reset on my PC. I didn't think and realized too late that after a file is built, it cant be edited again because its a compiled version. I'm wondering if there is any way I can have access to this file in the Unity Editor?

There are various tools out there that can return a built Unity project into a editable one, though with very differing levels of success.

Not going to link them as I'm not sure what the legality of these programs are with respect to Unity's T&C's, but they're out there.

I have a safe copy of the original build file that I can put on my computer again at any time. Are any of these programs you speak of TinyRipper or ILSpy?

What is a "Unity file"? You mean a build, right? And you lost the Unity project? In that case I would just start over. You can decompile the code and get some of that back but all the assets, the asset references, scene hierarchy and such ... no way. I don't think it's worth trying decompilers to get the project back.

From now on: make backups and use source control. ;)

Yeah I meant a build file. That's unfortunate news but thankyou.
